1979 jeep CJ7 with driveability issues

79 CJ7 has 4" skyjacker spring lift, 32" new tires, auto transmission, quadratrac. Steering is horrible! Darts from side to side. Nothing seems to be loose. Steering stabilizer is working. No factory sway bar. Not sure what to do next. HELP! replaced steering connection, checked PS ,checked tie rods etc, replaced steering dampener (stabilizer) Only thing I can figure is the 35 inch tires..
I am at a total loss.. Mine on a 79 CJ7

It was both neg caster and zero toe in.. I had them adjust to 2 degrees caster and 5/32 toe in.. Still follows lines in road a bit but way better now.. You guys are the best. Thank you so much for your patience. I appreciated it.

If you alter the steering and suspension in any way as far as changing factory settings you need to get an alingment it sounds like you have to much negative caster

dont worry most people dont think of that you have to be really good at steering and suspension to think of that

What is the horn relay location for 1979 trans am?

The dual horns are located between the radiator and engine...the horn button controls the must remove the steering wheel to gain access to the horn button spring assembly...pre-air bag so not a big deal to remove the steering wheel on your 79 T/A...hope this helps.

1986 cj7 unstable steering with wide tires

Check your lower and upper control arm ball joints as well as the tie rod ends. Also make sure your wheel lugs are tight. Also make sure front hubs are in the free position when operating on the street. If the Jeep has a straight axel, check the king pin bushings at the steering knuckles.

My cj7 is very "darty"

First check your tire pressures and make sure they're up. Then you might consider changing out your steering stabilizer (steering shock) and have your front end (components checked)

You said stock height, does that mean you have stock suspension aswell? If I were you I would install stiffer shocks all the way around and add or replace the stock front stabilizer bar with a stiffer one. You may also consider installing more rigid leaf springs in the rear.

Hope this helps
