okay it is turning when i turn the car over, any other suggestions? its really like its not getting gas...but i know the fuel pump and fuel filter are fine if that matters. i put more gas in it just to see if maybe that would help, and it sounds like it tries harder to actually start.

Which belt? Accessories? Timing? If timing belt, do not attempt this job without a shop manual that will show you how to do this correctly and supply needed torque values. ***** this up and you will regret not buying a cheap shop manual.

Do I reset timing on 2007 kia rio upon installing a timing component kit

no, make sure you mark your gears before removing the timing belt. align them back up before you put on your belt. i recommend taking it to the shop if this is your fisrst time because it can be very difficult without the proper tools and knowledge

98 Ford escort zx2 has hard time taking off after idling for about five minutes have to pump gas about five times to get the rpm's up with a/c on doesn't tend to do it as bad with a/c off

Hey Joey. It sounds like its flat...not enough timing or timing belt slipped. Have those checked by an honest shop and it wont cost a ton. Hope that's all it is.Good luck. Tom

I got a 2001 dodge stratus , i believe i need a new water pump i checked all hoses and leak is coming from behind belts on passenger side. I don't have a lot of money and trying to do without taking it...

Replacing the water pump means replacing the timing belt as well because it drives the water pump, and it's likely the belt is due for a change especially after coolant has soaked it. If you're not familiar with camshaft timing etc. you may want to try a reputable repair shop. I'd expect parts and labor to be around $250.00 at most places. If you're not timid a decent manual should get you through it.

I have a '93 Acclaim with the Mitsubishi 3.0L V6. The car has 115,000 miles on it. The original timing belt (and water pump) were replaced at 60,000 miles. A repair shop just told me the engine was...

GOOD IF YOU COULD FIX IT YOUR SELF.OR TAKE IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC.IF YOU COULD FIX TIMING BELT THEN DO A COMPRESSION AND A CYLINDER LEAK DOWN TEST AT EACH CYLINER WITH CLOSED VALVES.VALVE COVERS NEEDS TO BE OFF BEFORE YOU CAN SEE VALVE CLOSED POSITION.IF AIR BLEEDS MORE THAN 40% YOU HAVE BENT VALVES YOU WILL HEAR AIR GUSH AT INTAKE OR OUT EXHAUST PIPES.YOU KNOW VALVES BEEN.I REMEMBER I HAD 1977 CHEVY MONZA TIMING BELT BROKE.BY GOOD LUCK AND GODS WILL DIDNT DAMAGE VALVES NOR PISTONS PUT NEW TIMING BELT ON ENGINE RAN FINE.WHEN MY TIMING BELT BROKE ALL MY PISTONS WAS MIDWAY OF THE ENGINE.THAT SAVE MY VALVES AND PISTON. LIKE I SAY DO BOTH TEST FIRST THEN YOU WILL KNOW IF ENGINE DAMAGED.

The timing belt on my 99 kia sephia has apparently broken...is there any way to tell whether it damaged the pistons and valves before I spend money replacing the timing belt and water pump?

No there no way way of knowing without replacing the timing belt, cylinder compression test at this point would not work due to valve's open at wrong time, this engine is a INTERFERENCE ENGINE, but you might get luckly where it did not damage valve's it's happen here at my repair shop, also you don't have to replace the water pump, it is not timing belt driven water pump

93 camry 3.0L V6 timing belt

Hello, and welcome to FixYa. Yes, you can drive the car to the shop without fear of any internal engine damage.

Your engine is not an "interference' engine; your valves will not be damaged if the belt slips a tooth or two. In fact, any Toyota engine with a timing belt is a non-interference engine.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.

Brake and battery light came on at the same time. Brake fluid is ok and it's a new battery. Thought maybe alternator but it seems to stay running. we've had it running for about 30 minutes at a time and it...

Yes you can use a volt meter and an amp meter. The easiest way is to go to a shop and have them check it for you so they can load test the system and do a complete check of the charging system. Also check your belt tension, a loose alternator belt can also cause the light to come on.
