Most reputable chain shops will test your alternator FREE, call around to Pep Boys, Autozone, etc and ask if they will.
Most of these problems are just poor maintenance, corroded battery terminals, aged battery.  Get someone to clean and tighten your battery connections and have that alternator tested if the problems persist.

2000 lincoln continential service engine soon light popped on, anyway to reset it

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. Are you asking how to reset the light? If so, it needs cleared by the OBD II scanner. Since the light is on, you can take it to Autozone or Advanced to have it scanned for codes. Once you get this done, ask them to errase it for you. It is likely that the code will appear again and again because there is something wrong. Until that part is changed, it will probably appear again because this is how the system works.
