Question about 2006 GMC Sierra

1 Answer

Gas mileage problems after trying the Tornado fuel saver.

I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 with 4.3. When I first bought it I was getting about 17 MPG. Then I installed a Tornado Fuel saver and it went down to 14MPG. I removed the Tornado but My mileage has not gone back to 17MPG. Is it possible my computer has been reprogrammed? if so, is there anything I can do to get the mileage back to where it was?
I already have the K&N filter and a magniflow muffler. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Martin

You can cause the computer to re-boot by disconnecting the battery cables for a few minutes and then reconnect.

2003 5.3L 4x4 GMC Sierra has started being hard

Sounds like a Solenoid might be bad on the starter if it spins freely and a high rate of speed without engaging.

Also, the relay could be bad.

I am ot sure if the fuel filter and pressure regulator would cause this problem.

No code will show with a bad starter or bad relay, I don't believe.

Good luck with this one.

I have a 2007 GMC 1500 5.3 V8. Once I got 45,000

ever tuned it up? sounds like its due. plugs, wires, fuel filter (if equipped), PCV, and an intake system cleaning should restore your fuel economy to where you want it.

Trace your fuel lines from the gas tank along the inside
of your frame rail.It should be located about 2 or 3 feet
from the tank.
