Question about 1994 Volkswagen Jetta

1 Answer

1994 volkswagen jetta starts sometimes

Problem with the 1994 jetta starting problem, you said to check the connections, meaning the battery connection, now tell me where does the ground side on the other end from the battery goes to the block of the engine, because I notice that cable wasn't connected after my merchanic install a transmission, so I bolted it to the block of the engine, so you're saying to just trace the pos side of the battery and make sure there's good connction, and could it be a bad coil.....question for Eeeeeeeeeeekz

Yes, that is exactly what i am saying, follow the postitive side out, look for any fringes, and exposures that may lead to a faultly connection. In addition to this, if you have not already done so, clean your battery terminals.
As for if it is the bad coil; you might experience Erratic firing of cylinder. If the wire is good, the signs present themselves at the plug with lots of carbon, after some urban driving. Looking at the coil pak might show some small cracks on/near the corners which seem to be the weakest spots. Sometimes you can even see tiny sparks escape the pak if you can find a spot dark enough to observe. All of these problems could worsen in damp/wet driving. Fastest way to t-shoot the prob is with a scope that can monitor each wire's throughput while the car is running. The paks can cost a lot depending on whether it's a used one($20-$50) or a new one,($100's).Try a wire change first
if that sounds like what happening to you then that may be the problem itsself.
Please post with what you decide to do and how you did it. I'm looking forward to your post and eager to help.

Hello , It sounds like you may have a very strange grounding wire problem. Do you have an alarm with shock sensor by chance? Check all connections around the battery and make sure all black wires are clean , connected tight. Make sure the battery connections are clean , dry and tight as well. Thank you , Quinn

it sounds like you have a bad connection somewhere, what i would suggest is to take it to a autozone and have them put in on the computer. If it is the fuel filter, it is a quick fix not more than 20-60mins.
