SOURCE: I have a 2004 Kia Sorento that has been with the

Does it cranks when you turn on the key to start.-------- If its not cranking then get the coil and spark plugs checked.-------- Also is the fuel pump coming on when you turn the key on.-------I agree fuel pump is replaced, but is it coming on when you turn the key to on.If the fuel pump is not coming on then get the fuel pump relay inspected in engine compartment fuse box under hood or give direct 12 volt power to fuel pump and turn on the key and see , if fuel pump runs or not.--------- ----------- when you start the car, does the starter gets power, test it with meter. Test the voltages to battery, starter and alternator.--- If battery is weak car will not start, if battery connections are dirty or loose car will not start. If battery to starter connection is loose car will not start, if starter is weak, the car will not start. If fuel pump is not getting voltage the car will not start.-------- So once you confirm that battery, starter , fuel pump all are getting power and all are working, then get the coil pack and spark plugs inspected. This will help.To confirm where the problem lies.Thanks.Helpmech.

How do you change battery cables in a 2005 kia sorento lx

If a car like yours dies while driving then I would suspect a fuel pump issue or a crank position sensor issue. Has your timing belt been replaced? that should be done at 100k miles. If the timing belt is coming apart it will throw pieces of itself onto the crank position sensor. Have someone check the fuel pressure and inspect the timing belt and crank sensor.

My 1999 Kia Sportage won't start. I put a new fuel pump in replaced the car battery . Need help please...

Im dealing with a similar situation. But have found that I have no spark. By opening the end of the air intake and giving a little squirt of starter fluid and no start. Opened access to FP and pulled a hose. No fuel. So no fuel no spark. reading lots and lots of forums I have come to the conclusion it is either the Cam or the Crank sensor. The crank sensor is easier to get to and cheaper. I am going to check that first.

2003 kia sorento i changed the crank postion sensor and adjusted the timing and it still will not stay running what could it be

Hello

The engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM), which is very rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related problems.
