When I start the Mazda tribute it misses and stops.

So when i start again I have to keep pressing the accellerator. when the engine warms up, it does not miss or stop. can you tell me what the problem is. As we do log book service every time.

I've had a similar issue with the colder weather setting in. Cleaning the battery terminals seemed to help some, we recently had the check engine light come on and had to replace the DPFE sensor as well. The code error is for the EGR valve, but the sensor seems to be the common fix.

I've had the same or a similar problem with ours. When it starts it dies right away or comes close to it. I found a air flow sensor in the air intake bad. It's right on top of the engine and if you tap it with something it will usually stop. It has a pistion that sticks inside causing the trouble. It rarely happens other than cold weather. Hope that helps.

replace all the "o" ring rubber seals for the intake manifold system. they leak when they are old and cold, until engine warms them up. the kit is cheap $20. the labour is going to cost more. this fixed my 01 tribute.

2002 mazda tribute v6 stalls intermittently when you let off the gas pedal....seems to do it only when it is warm and again very intermittently. Vehicle has 110k for miles.

You need to have a scan done and pay close attention to the throttle position sensor and the idle air control .

Also (since we have so little information to work with) check your engine compartment while it is running and listen to see if you have a vacuum leak. See if you hear a hissing sound.

A vacuum leak will cause it to stall after it is warmed up. The computer will keep it running at a higher RPM until it warms up and with a vacuum leak it will stall when the idle comes down to the 600-700 level.

Hope this helps.

It is the head gasket. Have that replaced and you will be fine. You have an air leak. I was told by the mechanic at mazda that the anti freeze eats away at the gaskets. CRAZY, but it works. I still have an issue with my 2001 Tribute revving while in park. Its always something.
