Which side of the block is number 1 cylinder of a holden black 308

ANSWERED BY FINANCIALGUIDEBLOG.COM TEAM
The number 1 cylinder of a Holden black 308 engine is located on the left side of the block (viewed from the rear) slightly above and forward of the starter motor mounting pad. The engine prefix, which identifies the capacity, compression ratio, transmission, etc., is stamped on a pad above the engine mounting on the same side of the block.

The cylinder heads have a casting number on the top left (viewed from the rear) side toward the front of the engine. Some heads may have a letter B or X cast into them, indicating a high-performance or limited-use variant.

The Holden black 308 engine was used in various models of Holden cars from 1985 to 1990, such as the Commodore, Calais, Statesman, and Caprice. It was a 5.0 litre V8 engine with a bore of 101.6 mm and a stroke of 76.8 mm. It produced 122 kW of power and 323 Nm of torque.

The Holden black 308 engine is a popular choice for enthusiasts who want to modify or restore their classic Holden cars. Some of the common upgrades include porting and polishing the heads, installing roller rockers, changing the camshaft, adding a cold air intake, and installing a performance exhaust system. These modifications can improve the engine's performance, efficiency, and reliability.

However, modifying or restoring a Holden black 308 engine also requires some knowledge, skills, and tools. You need to follow the proper procedures and specifications for disassembling, cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling the engine. You also need to use the right parts and accessories that are compatible with your engine and car model. You may need to consult a professional mechanic or a reputable workshop if you are not confident or experienced in doing the job yourself.

Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQs) about the holden black 308 engine:

Q: How can I increase the power and torque of my Holden black 308 engine?

A: There are many ways to increase the power and torque of your Holden black 308 engine, depending on your budget and preference. Some of the common methods include changing the camshaft, installing a performance chip, upgrading the fuel system, adding a supercharger or a turbocharger, etc. However, you need to make sure that your engine can handle the increased stress and heat, and that your transmission, drivetrain, and suspension are also upgraded accordingly.

Q: What are the common problems and issues with the holden black 308 engine?

A: The Holden black 308 engine is generally reliable and durable, but it may have some problems and issues over time, especially if it is not maintained properly. How do i set the camshaft timing on wb holden one tonner 1984 model 308 engine?

The cam timing to the crank timing is a bit tricky, it's 9 links from TDC to setup the cam from the oil pump, I suggest you go to your local mechanic and have him set it up, this is something you don't want to stuff up

Motor has spark and fuel but isnt firing 308 red motor

Best guess is the leads are off by one terminal. I have found that whatever was touched last is going to be where the problem is. Especially on a formerly running engine.

You said it ran, then you pulled the leads off. Well somewhere in the process something either didn't get put back together the same as it came apart OR another component got disconnected or possibly moved out of position to cause a 'no start' condition.

Look over the area, double, triple, or even quadruple check the firing order.

Hope this helps.
