2003 Olds Bravda AWD with the key stuck in the ignition. Had a bad battery that is replaced with a new one but cannot get key out of ignition. Key was originally stuck in ignition at the time the battery was dead after trying to start vehicle. When trying to remove key after discovering the battery was dead, was unable to remove key from ignition. No previous problems with removing key before.
Replace battery or charge the one in it, then start the Bravada and when you shut it off it will release the key.
Remove steering column shroud(cover)and tap ignition barrel with small hammer while twisting key backwards and forwards, also turn steering wheel backwards and forwards sometimes this is enough to release key as the locking pins in barrel and the steering lock pin do sometimes jam.You will have to remove steering column shroud to replace ignition barrel if tapping/hitting it doesnt work anyway so its not a wasted effort.Good luck, let me know how it works out

Key in ignition will turn but not far enough to start car. It just stops dead.
