First the vette has to be up high enough to get under(lift). There is a plug on the side of tranny ,and the car has to be running. Unscrew the plug and when fluid runs out the level is correct. remember car has to be running!!

Where do you add the transmission fluid for a 2010 chrysler town & country on the engine is it where it says dealer only

The automatic transmission dip stick and filler tube have been removed from many later model auto transmissions now so you cannot check fluid levels yourself or add fluid easily to these units.

I assume you have the V6 engine and if you check the engine bay you will find no transmission dip stick and filler tube there. In these cases you have to add fluid by pumping fluid in after removing a filler plug on the case of the transmission from under the vehicle and it needs to be perfectly level when this is done.. There is a specific procedure for this which varies from unit to unit because you need to ensure the transmission is not over filled.

Unless you know what you are doing and use the correct filling procedure this is not a do it yourself task and it is best done with the car perfectly level up on a workshop lift/hoist.

What type of trans. fluid does it take and how do i know when its full

Transmission Fluid Fluid Level Checking & Filling To Check:
  1. Connect a scan tool to the vehicle to read ATF temperature. ATF checking temperature should be 95° - 113°F (35° - 45°C).
  2. Start the engine.
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4. Place a drain pan under the transmission.
  5. Allow the ATF temperature to reach 95° - 113°F (35° - 45°C). Automatic transmission fluid inspection plug vw-07-00-7273.gif

  6. Remove the inspection plug from the transmission housing. Fluid is pipe will run out. If fluid continues to drip out, no additional fluid is needed. If only the fluid in the overflow pipe runs out, additional fluid is needed.
To Fill:

  1. Pry the cap from the filler pipe. The cap locking device will be destroyed during removal.
  2. Pull the plug from the filler pipe.
  3. Add fluid slowly with VAG 1924 or equivalent until fluid runs out of the inspection hole. Install the inspection hole plug.
  4. Install the plug in the filler pipe and secure with a new cap.

I need to add transmission fluid to the manual transmission of a 1986 mazda 323

please DO NOT ADD TRANS FLUID TO A MANUAL BOX.
on the side of the box you will see a square bolt head, this is the filler/level plug, remove it and, if required, fill with ep90 gearbox oil until it overflows, when it stops dripping replace plug.

Transmission fluid level check

The owner of the car should be able to check the oil fluid and coolant levels .get a clean peace of cloth.tools for removing trans axle /differential filing plugs. so that when the oil or fluid and coolant levels are checked they must be on desired levels.Locate the oil metering rod or dipstick and measure the lubricating oil level. Remove the transmission filler plug and check oil level. Remove differential oil filler plug and check oil level .Check fluid level .check coolant level.Observe all safety rules .Use the correct preventive maintenance procedures. If the owner can't do it then it is suggested that he should go to a car mechanic and the mechanic will do the job.

Where is the transmission fluid cap on a manual 87 toyota pickup

Manual transmissions don't use 'transmission fluid', so they don't have a 'cap' like autos do. Usually there is a bolt on the side of the transmission, sort of like a drain plug, where you add oil. The hole also acts as the level check: you add gear oil until it starts to run out the hole, that's how you know you have enough.

You can buy a Haynes or Chilton manual that will have good info on basic stuff, with pictures and diagrams of all the important parts.

How to add trans fluid

Checking the transmission fluid in your Volkswagen isn't as simple as it used to be. To check the transmission fluid level requires your vehicle to be on a lift that it can be set level on. With the engine running and transmission warm, a plug has to be removed from the bottom of the transmission pan. This plug is at the base of a short stand-pipe (tube) inside the transmission oil pan. With the plug removed a small amount of oil should spill out (what is trapped in the stand-pipe) and if the fluid is at the correct it will continue to drip. If that is the case the transmission fluid is at the correct level. If all that comes out is what is trapped in the stand-pipe then the fluid level could be low. To add fluid to the transmission requires removal of the fill plug that is located on the front left upper corner by the oil pan. Oil is added at that point until oil starts running out or dripping from the stand-pipe. When replacing the fill plug you also need a replacement lock for the plug from Volkswagen. Many of today's vehicles are equipped with sealed transmissions that require specialized procedures, equipment and parts to check the transmission fluid level. Sorry for the bad or good news. This way just make sure that the person services the transmission to keep the warranty valid.

Can't find the oil or transmission dipstick on my '99 rodeo.

The oil dipstick is on the driver's side of the engine. Look a little low. There is no transmission dipstick. There is a plug on the transmission pan that has to be removed while the engine is running to check the fluid level. A special tool is needed to add fluid to the transmission.

If you can't find a dipstick you must fill and check through the level plug in the side of the trans ( usually just above the pan rail on the drivers side)
