This sounds like it could be either the C/V (constant velocity) joint boot cracked and oozing grease, or the axle seal on the transmission could be damaged. If just for peace of mind, have this checked out as soon as possible. These are not costly repairs, now, but if delayed they could be VERY costly. Anything transmission related should be checked ASAP.

Why wont driver side front axle come out of transmission

You need a piece of wood against the tranaxle case,
to protect it

Then use a 3 foot pry bar behind the axle & snap it,
so the Cir Clip comes loose & out of the trans side gear

Going back together is tricky but easier

Why wont thedriver side front axle come out of transmission

It will come out you really have to pull on it hard if that dont work get a good pry bar up close to the tranny and find a spot where you can get a good bite on the axle and pry it will come out.

The drive shaft has completly come apart. My husband put it back together temporarliy. Does this mean we need a new transmission?

If your transmission still functions fine-you should be good. The number one cause of worn front wheel drive axle wear is from worn transmission and motor mounts. As they wear they change the position of the axle, increasing wear. I would swap out the axle and have the mounts checked.

I need help with Axles for 2001 Hyundai Elantra. The Left Axle rubber cover is broken, also I heard noise when the wheel moves iether left or right turn when the car is leaving or entering a parking box....

depending on how bad the axels are. you could buy new ones. or you can buy a rebuild kit. now for the leak just 1 seal but if your gonna remove both axels i suggest buyin both side seals.

Front axle

when your daughter turned the carover where did the oil come out of did a drive shaft pop out as you need to find out as oil just doesn,t come out of the box once you find out let me know because if the garage did any work on the box even putting a drive shaft back in they can argue the point the seal was damaged putting the shaft back in and you need to know where on the box the leak is coming from don,t forget if the dealers say its to do with the accident get them to put it in writing and if the repair was done under insurance then you have a case against the garage that did the repair as they cannot have it both ways its definatley not your fault yates210456
