A/C is blowing out the top vents only( defrost vents).

My 2005 Jeep Wrangler is having A/C problems as stated above. The fan side from low to high works. The vents do not swith and the cold/hot dial is not working either. I am sure it is something simple and need to fix it fast. Its my wifes car. Thats right.....I have to fix it cause The Tape won't keep her quiet anymore.

In order for the air to flow in the directions that we want it is in fact controlled by vacum from the engine look under the hood close to the fire wall you must have either a damaged vacum hose or it is unplugged look close to the fire wall. Also these vehicles will have a small tank called the vacum canister which will look like a black ball or on some of thse vehicles they look like a paint can they are all under the hood for easy access. Make suere that you are getting vacum from the engine and then it hooks up to the tiny hose leading into the dash board,.

Jeep wrangler 4 cylinder heat doesn't blow out

hi Lori.
No year stated. so I can NOT be accurate (only generic)
the engine must be hot first.
does the fan blow? if not fix that 2nd.
if it does blow, on high, can you direct air to all vents, defrost, try ReCirc?
first feel the top engine Front radiator hose. see hand fly? off ouch?, that is 180F+ temp. ok RAD is hot. (if not hot the engine thermostat is bad , stuck open) (under hood test this is.... read a book on safety first)
then I feel the 2 heater core hoses. same deal both must be hot.
if not? you have problems. (heater core clogged, etc)
next time post the year, I have a 2008 and know it well.
but they made wranglers from 1986 to now.

the fsm is that. on heat

if all that, is Greek, then get it serviced as the operators guide directs you.

some cars old had a water valve., but no year, no joy.

2005 Jeep Wrangler Heater and Cigarette Lighters not working.

May help - fuses supply power but also needed is earth return to battery. This is usually black wires running from device to the car metal. To diagnose you need a multimeter. Check body of cigar lighter is connected to the chasis with meter on ohms. (continuity test) good is zero ohms. If earth problem, check under dash to ensure all earth wires connect to metal chassis. Then with ignition on, check centre pin at back inside cigar lighter has 12 volts to side.
If not then check fuse has 12 volt to it, Now you can get to the fan, repeat all the tests on fan. Best wishes, its tedious work.

2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited cruise control will not engage.

check the vacuum line on the right side of the engine. There should be an elbow connector connecting the line to the engine. Does interior fan only come out of the defroster vents by chance?

Heater only blowing out defrost vents

Open your hood and find a "T" connector right near the battery. Follow the line down below the battery (you will have to get under the Jeep). You will see that the line plugs into a 3 to 4 inch section of 3/16" tubing that is plugged onto a black in color, plastic box. Use a razor knife and trim off about 1/2" of this 3/16" tubing as it commonly cracks where it fits on the nipple of the black plastic box. The vacuum cannot build pressure properly with these cracks in this tubing, and therefore cause the selector door to malfunction when operating heat and a/c. It is a quick and easy five minute fix.

2005 Wrangler X a/c only blows from defroster

Check under your hood for a loose or leaking vac line , The A/C system on your jeep uses manifold vac to move the air mix doors and with no vac the air mix door will move into the defrost position. Find your vac leak and that will fix your problem.
