I have a 305 with a TBI carbutator. I changed out the spark plugs, wires, distributer cap and rotor, and the throttle position sensor. Put some deet in the tank just to rule out bad gas. Changed the fuel filter too! The rough idle persists, but only when it is at running temperature. When the choke is engaged the idle is A OK. Any help out there? Ohh...when I press on the EGR, the car dies off a little like it should. I don't have a vacume tester. What should I do next?

Rough idle problem

could be a vacuum leak at a hose or gasket. with the engine running spray a little carb spray at the intake manifold area. if the idle picks up you are close to the vacuum leak. dont spray on the exhaust manifold area, be careful

Idle is rough

Spark Plugs have to be changed every 3 years
Front Oxygen Sensors changed every 100,000 miles
Can't have any Vacuum Leaks -- anywhere on the vehicle
Need to have it road tested with a Professional Scan Tool
& look at all data & get caught up on Preventative Maintenance
Very few people change motor oil 3 or 4 times a year, if at all,
and the Variable Cam Actuators fail, as a result, that & few other
things can cause rough running engine & resulting idle issues
It's well known that Ford COP Ignition Coils fail sometime in
every year of ownership

2000 pontiac montana reads a code 405, engine dies when i am slowing down coming to a stop and when sitting still if it dosent die it overheats, shifts really hard whats wrong

Sounds like EGR Valve (Exhuast Gas Recirculation Valve) is sticking in the open position allowing exhuast gas into the intake manifold to soon which at idle will cause the engine to either run real rough or to stall out. Some EGR valves can be taken off and clean the carbon out of it or you can replace it.

The most common problem is a clogged EGR valve. In any case, you should take it to a mechanic who has the tools to diagnose it further, because 1/2 a dozen things can cause rough idle in a 10 year-old Windstar.

You might have your computer checked to make sure the circuit that controls egr valve is working.  On my vehicle, I had several egr valves changed and failed the emissions test until I had the computer changed and the PROMS updated with the latest PROM.
The EGR valve is easy to change because it is on top of the engine.  It has electrical coils that control the valve and one of the valves may be damaged where it can not compensate at idle.  If the EGR is working, when the engine first starts the engine should increase in idle speed and then switch to a lower idle speed.  This is part of the EGR system check and it adjusts as the engine increases in temperature.
There are several other reasons if one of the Emission sensors is faulty that may cause the rough idle.  The oxygen sensor, tempearture sensor, MAP sensor,...etc.  You may have a trusted mechanic attempt to read any codes on the engine.
