Question about GMC Yukon

3 Answers

When the humidity is high, the Yukon will not start. If I put a fan under the hood, it will usually start after awhile. When the humidity drops,it starts as it should. The real problem is that the Yukon is now in Oregon with my daughter and very limited funds for "experimental guessing" in repairing the problem.

If the car does not start when humid is because the spark plug wires are leaking the high voltage through the insulation, but when the moisture and humidity is remove by a fan; it starts. I would also suggest to replace the distributor is possible.

Your ignition system needs servicing by the sounds of it. The high humidity has created a ground path for an electrical short to occur due to cracks in your distributor cap or plug wires. When these things are dry the path is not available. Spray windex on these components while the engine is running to test the theory. By doing the spray test in the dark, it will be even more evident where the cross spark problems are.

Let me know what you find when you do this

My 2003 Denali won't start I turn the key and just get a fast clicking noise good battery new starter and all power works

Where's the clicking noise coming from ? Under the dash , under the hood in the engine compartment ? Do starter circuit voltage drop test ! When the key is in start position is there constant B+ voltage at the 10 amp crank fuse in the under hood fuse box ? This is an input to the PCM - engine computer to energize the starter relay ! Starter Voltage Drop The battery is good , starter is new ,what about the cables ? watch this video on testing starter circuit !

2005 gmc yukon fan relay location

In the under hood fuse / relay box ! There are three of them COOLFAN/relay 1-2-3 . It's marked on the under side of fuse box lid .
The engine cooling fan system consists of 2 electrical cooling fans and 3 fan relays. The relays are arranged in a series/parallel configuration that allows the powertrain control module (PCM) to operate both fans together at low or high speeds. The cooling fans and fan relays receive battery positive voltage from the underhood fuse block.

A/C fan cuts out completely when on high fan AND recirculate

Replay the blower resistor. Used to be you could replace the relay, but they are built into the resistor now. Should be under the passenger side dash. Usually behind the blower. There will be four to six small wires going to it and two big wires coming from it going to the blower motor.

My car is misting when the ac is on

Misting? From under the hood or out of the vents? If it is out of the vents, that is normal when the humidity is very high. The air from the outside is full of moisture, when you cool it by passing it over the a'c coil, the excess moisture will appear as a fog briefly. If you put the control on recirculate, you use inside cabin air and that should stop the problem. All about relative humidity. Warmer air holds more moisture. For instance in the winter when the RH is maybe 30% outside at 30 degrees, you bring that air inside and warm it to 70, the RH drops significantly. Don;t have the formula off hand, but it whu you get the static electricity shocks in the colder weather.

FAN DOES NOT BLOW AIR OUT ON LOWER SETTINGS ONLY ON HIGH

Need a new blower motor resistor. Check under hood on firewall, on passenger side under cowl, behind strut tower area is usual spot. If not may be on housing/ducting under dash on passenger side near blower motor.
