1996 Chevrolet S-10 pickup 4-cyl. I purchased this vehicle new in June 1996 and it has always been garaged kept and has 73,000 miles. Seldom used. However, the past few years the dash lights have not worked. At first it would work sometimes and sometimes not. I replaced the headlight switch and the dome light switch. Under warranty the rear middle brake light was replace (center brake light and dome light was a combined unit). The switches being replaced did not solve the problem. Now, they are not working at all. The lights on the CD player work as do the lights for the heater/a/c controls. I can not reach the plug on the back of the instrument panel. I suspect either this plug or the instrument panel itself. What do you think?
Also, you helped me with my daughters 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee, dome light stayed on and radio controls and power windows did not work. I disconnected the battery for 30-minutes hoping to re-set the system and everything worked. Do you know why this worked?
Thank you very much.
Curt
It must have reset body control module. as for lights in dash bulbs could be blown or loose only way to tell is to remove cluster assembly.
