Question about 2005 Dodge Ram 3500
Will not idle down when truck comes to a stop. 2005 2wd with 6L Cummings and an auto tranny. When switching from park to drive, the RPM's will jump up when in gear and will have to stand on the brake pedal to keep it stopped. Rpm's jump up when you take your foot of the brake pedal, but then returns to normal as long as you are acelorating.
Start by checking the calculated engine load, and the fuel rail p.s.i.-- if the load and pressure are normal at idle and high in, gear then suspect a faulty torque converter. Like the older GM's that would die at stops, the converter is sticking in lock-up mode
