Question about 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

1 Answer

No brake lights

Everything is working fine except the rear brake lights, third brake light works. Both of the rear modules were replaced a few months ago, good clean contacts on both sides. Thinking maybe stoplight switch, but I don't know. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Don't have anything to check that. Before I replaced the modules, it was blowing fuses everytime I hit the brakes or turn signals. Could those be the problem and just not be blowing fuses this time?

Thank you, I'll give that a try.

If third brake lt works it wouldn't be stoplight switch, either a wiring problem or the modules went bad again, do you have power at the modules when they are unplugged

Why do my all my lights work on my 2001 GMC jimmy except my low beams.

Replace the turn signal switch. All the exterior lights run threw it except the high brake light. There is a small plastic clip/switch in it that controls high and low setting. Because of heat it starts to melt and quits working.

99 JEEP BRAKE LIGHT WONT WORK..THIRD BRAKE LIGHT WORKS

on chrysler products the third brake light is run independant of the body control module, try checking the fuses that run the brake lights and see if any are faulty if not check you have voltage at the switch and a signal getting to the lights.

Check at the light socket in the rear, where your lights don't work. You need a test light or a voltage meter, and check to see that you have a groun there, power for your parking light, and power to the brake light. You should have power for the parking lights seeing that it works, and a ground. Just verify that your power for the brakes is getting to the bulb, or not. Just a good place to start.
And you are correct that if the third brake light works (top) your brake light switch is fine.

Check your wires, the smoke could mean an electrical fire.

1989 Cadillac rear lights stay on

It may be a turn hazard module under dash.that is the culprit! The power to the third brake light does not go through the module, but the rear brake lamps power is controlled through this module. I am looking at a drawing of one and it looks like it has two connectors with about five wires in one and six in the other. It has some cooling fins on it also.
