Question about 2001 Chevrolet Malibu
Okay so, When I start the tracker it starts fine, but when I put it in reverse, it will back up. But once I've backed up and stopped, the car stalls and the rpms still rev like crazy. After about 10 seconds or so (feels like an hour when I could be in harms way since I can't move!) it will kind of buck forward. Once I'm driving, it keeps reving really hard as I step on the gas. Once I get to stop sign at the end of my road, I stop and it stalls again. Also, in the past few days it's been reving but I can't go any faster, it acts like I'm in neutral. Yesterday, my speedometer wouldn't work until I took a back road and hit a bump. Speedometer is working now. So I've rambled, and I need help!
2001, 2.0 L engine
Sounds like a transmission problem. My car was doing that and it turns out it had a transmission fluid leak that had led to major transmission damage. The bad news: the entire transmission had to be rebuilt.
