Question about 2008 Pontiac Vibe

1 Answer

Can't get rims off car.

Both my winter and all season rims are stuck. I tried a rubber mallet on the rims, but could not break loose. If I ever have a flat tire I'm in big trouble. What can I do?

Soak the studs with WD 40, I mean flood them, then wait a day and try to remove them, it is rust, they will break loose, just need allot of elbow grease, I know a tire shop could get them off, why not try that, go where you usually buy your tires, they will charge $10 or so.

1987. Right front brake disc is stuck on the sheath around the spindle. How do I break it loose?

If you mean that the rotor is stuck on the hub, it is most likely rust or corrosion, some makers use screws on them. Use a dead blow hammer or rubber mallet on it. Don't use a metal hammer.

Why won't my front right tire come off my yaris? it's jacked up and the lug nuts are off...??

Rims tend to stick on the rotors, especially if they've never been changed. Take a rubber mallet and hit on opposing sides of the rim it should break free.

2004 ses changing wheel bearings ,how do I remove the half shafts without damaging?

If the shaft is stuck in the hub, put the nut back on the shaft and screw it down even with the end of the shaft. Hit it with a rubber mallet to break it loose.

Trying to take tire off to change the breaks on a 2002 deville,

if you got the lus off and the wheel is still stuck, it is probably corroded to the hub. Spray some penetrating oil or WD40 on it and let it soak in. Then you can use a rubber mallet to hit the outer part of the tire or wheel and see if you can shock it off. Or kick the outer edge of the tire.
If that doesn't work, put the lug nut on backwards until they just touch the wheel. Then drive back and forth while slamming on the brakes to see if you can break it loose. I spent 1/2 hour on just one tire/wheel.
Before putting the tire back on, sand and grease the hub.

Tire stuck/lug nuts removed

use 3lb sledge on inner edge of rim be careful not to damage rim rubber mallet won't provide enough shock to loosen rust. ps leave one lug nut on so tire won't fly off.

Changing flat tire, lugs off, tire wont budge

Wheel is stuck in place, gently tap on inside of rim with hammer or better a rubber mallet. May take some time but should jar it loose.
