depending on what engine, you may have adjustible lifters. aIf it doesn't you may have a lifter bleeding down. you may want to try a bottle of lucas additive your next oil chang.

SOURCE: I have a 4 cyl 2001 toyota camry. I hear a ticking/tapping
I just gave someone advice on this due to having a similar issue myself, so I will recommend the same especially since no warning lights came on because it's always a good idea to check the simplest things first as so often we spend all kinds of time and money and it turns out to be the simplest thing that probably didn't need to cost anything at all... For me it turned out to be the negative battery cable clamp had fallen off which allowed it to get too close to the fan blades and was hitting it... That cut into the battery cable and caused me some electrical issues, it was a simple thing that ended up costing me just over $100 in replacement parts... It's best to check for any cables, wires or hoses that may move around enough to get anywhere near the fan blades... The 'ticking noise' in my car sped up as the RPMs did as well so I hope this is all it is for you too... Best of luck!

there are no adjustments that you can do. a dealer or someone that specializes in toyota is the only ones that can/should do an adj for you. If that really is the case.
