The horn suddenly starts sounding, only disconnecting the battery it will stop

Might be related to the alarm, which also starts without reason but stops introducing the code for door opening.

SOURCE: horn starts blowing randomly

do you have a alarm on it. If so you need to disable it or turn it off. Other wise you have a short somewhere in your horn. disconnect the horn under the hood. Its usually upfront and looks llike a flat black circular device that has one wire going to it, unless you have a alarm then it may have more.

SOURCE: error code p 1633 on 2000 lincoln ls

P1633 Keep Alive Power Voltage Too Low (Ford) It means that at sometime in the past the battery voltage was below specs at the PCM and set the code. The battery provides 12 volts to power everything, the car probably sat for a while and probably took a long time to start or had to be jumped off to start.... when the voltage got below 9 volts it set the code. The code is more of a indicator for us more than anything.. the computer learns as you drive and all the code is saying is that it lost it's power to itself and can loose that learned information. Have a shop inspect the battery for being weak or dying as well as your battery connections.. if all is fine, I wouldn't worry as my guess is the car's code was set cause it sat unused for a while

SOURCE: When car sits for 3-4 days, battery goes down.

You either have a battery that is giving out on you or something is draining the battery when it stands for a while. Have the battery tested first . If that checks out ok then you will have to check for the electrical leakage in your system.

SOURCE: horn went off middle of night.had to disconect

Hello
This car has a factory security system so don't know why you have installed a 2nd one, the factory system will honk the horns when activated but that is very rare, but you should have had a warning light flashing in the dash if it was the cause of the horn honking at night. It is much more likely on this car that the steering wheel Airbag module plastic outer covering is distorted from the heat, and when it cooled at night it caused the horn contacts just under the cover to touch, I've seen this many times in my 20 years at the Ford dealer, the only fix is to replace the steering wheel Airbag.

When i start my 96 mustang gt the horn is blowing

PATS does not blow the horn. Pull the horn fuse to see if that stops the draw. Then troubleshoot the horn circuit to see where the power is coming from. You can start at the horn relay. The relay gets a ground signal from the horn switch in the steering wheel. If that signal is constant, the problem is upstream of the relay--perhaps within the steering wheel. Do not remove the steering wheel to troubleshoot without disarming the airbag.

My horn sounds off and won't stop 'til I disconnect battery cable. Why?

sounds like there's a short in your wiring in the steering column, A lot of times with a tilt wheel a wire get loose or gets a short in it. the steering wheel may have to come off to fix the problem but make sure to disconnect the airbag first, I'm not sure what vehicle you have so I don't know where to tell you to look for the connection, may be best to take to a dealership if possible. Hope this helps.

The car alarm won't go off. how do we stop it

If it is the horn, pull the horn fuse or relay. Does the vehicle start and drive, ok? Of course, pulling the fuse or relay isn't the proper fix. I'm just talking about killing the horn, where applicable.

92 Toyota 4runner truck was running perfectly fine Later in the day went to start and the alarm just started going off and wouldn't turn off. Truck won't start even with keys turned in igniti

The alarm system somehow got activated , this is usually because the battery becomes discharged or disconnected try doing this:
Remove the key from the ignition
disconnect the negative battery terminal
put the key back in and turn to ON
exit the truck and leave door open
reconnect the battery terminal
get in and leave door open, if the alarm horn stays off it should start.

Alarm on my 2002 F250 started going off all of a sudden while parked and unlocked. the only way I could make it stop was disconnecting the batteries. what's wrong with my truck?

First, take the battery out of your key fob. All of them. Then hook the battery back up on the truck. If alarm doesn't go off, put battery in one fob. Check it out, all functions. Then check the other one. If alarm goes off when you hook truck battery back up, look for a shorted switch to whatever you alarm monitors and sets an immediate alarm when the switch is closed (or opened). If you still can't locate the reason for the alarm, consider replacing the alarm system, but not before you come back here and tell us what happened.

I can't turn off the security alarm on my 1998 nissan pathfinder

I couldn't turn off the security alarm on my 1999 Pathfinder as I replaced the battery,
Solution: I read the solution here to disconnect the positive cable, open the driver's door, insert the key, then reconnected the positive cable, while honking, I turn the key to the left, to the right and to the left again while the door is still open. The honking stopped. Then I started the truck without a problem. Thank you for the hint.

Hi, The battery has suddenly drained on my 1999 T Reg Mercedes C Class Estate. Yesterday the horn suddenly sounded for no reason and would not stop....then it stopped on it's own. This morning, no power in...

According to the Mercedes forum, you are not alone, the alarm system goes off at random, it has something to do with the tow button, disabling the horn doesn't stop the alarm and the lights keep flashing. But the horn is quieted. I would trash the alarm system, or pay the dealer to mess with it, which is usually an expensive joke. You have insurance on the car, let them steal it. I stopped worrying about my bike, I leave the key in it. Nobody touches it. Before I couldn't leave site of it. Now, I don't care. Let them have it, I'll get a new one, Anyway, check out mercedes forum.

How can I reset my Factory Alarm on my Jeep it wont run

Alarm Module Reset Procedure
NOTE: This information applies to a Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) that was armed when the battery was disconnected and reconnected.
When the armed VTSS senses that the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, it enters its power-up mode. In the power-up mode the alarm system remains armed following a battery failure or disconnect. If the VTSS was armed prior to a battery disconnect or failure, the system will have to be actively or passively disarmed following a battery reconnection.
The power-up mode will also apply if the battery goes dead while the system is armed and battery jump-starting is attempted. The engine no-run feature will prevent the engine from starting until the alarm system has been actively or passively disarmed.
Passive disarming of the Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) occurs when the vehicle is unlocked using the key to unlock either front door or the lift gate. Active disarming of the VTSS occurs when the vehicle is unlocked by depressing the Unlock button of the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter.
Once the alarm has been activated (horn sounding, lights flashing, and the engine no-run feature), either disarming method will deactivate the alarm.
Depressing the Panic button (if equipped) on the RKE transmitter will also disarm the VTSS, but the horn will sound and the lights will flash for about three minutes as part of the Panic feature. The horn and lights can be stopped by pressing any of the RKE transmitter's buttons or driving the vehicle above 15 mph.

Horn

my horn did the same thing - we disconnected the horn (which in an 02' is behind the passenger side headlight) I'm sure it's wearing out and we need to replace it.
