Problem must be in the main switch ,remove wires from the switch ,if lights still on then its possible its a relay for the lights ,now their are boxes front and rear for the remote relays for the lights if one of these relays are stuck then its possible its backfeeding the rest of the lights ,so if disconnecting switch doesnt work try disconnecting the relay boxes till they go out.if this still doesnt work then try pulling out the fuses one at a time till they go out evan fuses not connected with the lights as their could be a wire insulation melted two wires together .these cars are pretty simple to repair i know because i have the 4ltr version and i love the power and the chrome although i only drive it sundays, love burning off a merc on the motorway and hammering a bmw away from the lights,And as for them big yanky looking cryslers ..no chance i have to slow up at 150mph as i lose my bottle getting old iam afraid

Tail lights

It sounds like a problem in the main harness.
The brake lights are on the same circuit as the turn signals and hazards, but the parking lights and backup lights are on different ones. So the only thing connecting all three is the ground circuit. The tail lights use a printed circuit board in the lamp assembly that could have problems, but not usually for both sides at the same time.
All you can do is use a test light or meter and trace the circuits from the light bulbs back to the firewall and see where the power is stopping.

Can not get my tail lights to work onk 1989 gmc truc

The front park lights work correct? If the front park lights work than there is not a problem with the light switch since the brown wire from the switch supplies power to the front park lights, front side markers, and the rear taillights. There should be twelve volts on the brown wire from the headlight switch with the connector plugged in and the park lights turned on. If this is true that there is a problem with the wiring to the back of the vehicle. A thorough inspection of the harness should reveal the problem. The dim break and blinkers support the above. High resistance also know as corrosion, in the wires or connections would cause this problem.

Light switches on a Jeep Cherokee 1984

Hi,
I think I know what your talking about... you can find the switch to for your head lights. But even when the switch is off ... your head lights are still on.
If that's what you mean then just put your parking brake on one small click and your head lights should go out.
If that isn't what your talking about please contact me .

Rear brake lights and front parking lights

I would guess the head light switch would be defective. You need to look for the plug in to be burned a little also,on the back of the headlight switch.

Front passenger head lights and parking light will not turn on.

hi the fuse for the parking lights runs all the parking lights so if some are on then it will not be the fuse.sounds like you have a bad ground going to thoes lights.turn on lights and wiggle the plugs to see if they turn on.you will have to make sure there is a ground going to the lights. the light bulbs may just be blown.

HAVE SOMEONE GO BEHIND THE CAR AND CHECK AND MAKE SURE THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON, IF THEY DON'T WORK THEN THERE IS NO POWER TO THE BRAKE PARK INTER-LOCK SOLENOID AND YOU CAN NOT DIS-ENGAGE PARK. IF THEY DON'T WORK CHECK THE FUSE, IF IT IS OK REPLACE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH.
