The marks on the crank pulley need to be lined up - then the rotor should point to the number one plug wire, or 180 degrees out.
Has the distributor been removed ?

start chasing wires. Sounds like something is shorted or worse, a hot wire may be grounded out.
Good place to start is all wires headed to the started as that is a common place for a power wire to melt against hot exhaust.
(that was the case for my 99 chevy)
Check all other fuses and make sure none are blown.

Crank sensor

If the crank or cam sensors failed, they would cause the computer to turn the check engine light on and set a trouble code. If you can catch it when it won't start and check the ignition and fuel system you may be able to narrow down the options.

Inside or directly under the distribitor cap is a plastic ring with either one or two wires attached..... these devices fail and not allow the engine to start.
It happened on my 88 chevy (305 cu in.). a quick fix is to replace it with a new one.. (Advance Auto) or other parts store.

Just purchased 2000 Buick LeSabre. 56,000 miles, sporadic trouble starting--sometimes starts first try, other times will crank and won't start and have to slightly depress the accelerator and then will...

If it runs rough all the time, could be a bad coil pack/wires. If just starting and hesitates on acceleration, I would suspect the throttle position sensor.

I have a 94 chevy chyenne 6 cylinder that starts and runs until it gets hot and then it dies. after it sets it will start again. I was told by a friend it might be the coil in the distributor.

the way i would check this is too use timing light or a spark tester on the coil wire run motor until it stalls check for spark @ ignition coil if the pickup coil is failing you wont have any spark bare in mind the ignition module can do the same thing so can the ignition coil. the part in the distubutor is called the pickup coil there is couple ways to test this. there are wires going to the coil that come from distubutor one wire pulse fires the coil there is a wire by the coil its a tach test lead you hook up a 12 volt test light to battery positive and check for pulses after the stall ocurrs. also test before stalls so you know what to exspect.if the pulse trigger stop its either the pickup coil or the ignition module.hope this helps Thunderboltz

2005 chevy silverado won;t start.

i had the same problem, and it turned out the coil pack was moulding inside wich stopped the spark all together, i ended up changing my coil pack and putting on new wires because the ends connected to the coil were very corroded and that cures the not running part just fine

enjoy
