Question about 1996 Mitsubishi Mirage

1 Answer

I have a 99' Mitsubishi Mirage and it would not start, i recently changed the alternator and battery, so i am assuming it is a bad circuit/wiring somewhere, due to the fact that whenever i pressed the brakes the power would deplete a large enough power for the car to not turn on.

Replaced battery and alternator on 2000 mitsubishi mirage and its still not charging is there a fusible link between alternator and battery

It just happened to me, and the solution only costed $3.
In the fuse box, there is a black fuse diagonally to the rest. Change it. Thats it.

2001 Mitsubishi mirage cylinder misfire - no detection code.

You may want to try changing the coil pack rubber boots. Especially if your have recently had an alternator failure or battery failure. The coil packs themselves are probably good but I've changed my boots at least 4 times now. I have a 2000 Mirage DE with 198,000 miles. Runs great.

I REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR IN MY 2001 MITSUBISHI MIRAGE AND THE BATTERY BUT IT STILL WONT CHARGE ,THE NEW ALT. WAS CHECKED AND IS GOOD. ALSO ALL FUSES ARE GOOD. AM I MISSING SOMETHING?

You need to check the charging circuit which is most important to the automatic charging of the battery to keep it in brim condition. Hence the alternator current will feed into the charging regulator which determines how much the battery needs to be charged . check this unit by tracing the alternator wiring and use a ammeter to check the battery charge current. get help if you are not equipped.

I have changed the battery in my 1997 mirage and the battery light still comes on

THE BATTERY LIGHT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BATTERY BEING BAD, IT IS A LIGHT THAT TELLS U THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE OUPUT OF THE ALTERNATOR WHICH CHARGES THE BATTERY. HAVE A PARTS STORE LIKE KRAGEN RUN A CHARGING SYSTEM TEST, IT IS FREE.

Brand new battery, drove car about two days and the lights got very dim, stereo turned off,no accellaration, and now dead.(1994 mitsubishi mirage 1.8 liter)

It sounds like the battery has gone dead and will need to be replaced due to a bad Alternator. Once you get the car started, check the voltage on the battery, there should be 13.5 to 14.5 Volts. A fully charges battery should have 12 volts with the engine not running and once the engine is running there should be 13.5 Volts with the head lights on and heater on too. If there is less then 12 volts reading on the battery with the engine running, then replace the Alternator. You can pick up a Alternator at Auto Zone and they can give you the step by step instructions to replacing it with common tools and they can also check the Alternator in your car to before you buy the new one. Good luck and hope this helps and insect the wire harness from the battery to the Alternator, look for any sighs of damaged like corrosion and repair any damages to the wire harness.
