Fuel filter, air filter, basic maintenance such as tune-up (plugs and wires), cleaning the throttle body of the throttle sticks. Is the Check Engine light on?

How often is the oil changed? Does the exhaust smoke? I have a 1998 monte w/3.1l and just recently did all the above and a lower intake reseal to it...runs like a champ at 119k.

Also, these engines do have rev limiters on them..I do believe they're disabled when the brake pedal is depressed (applied). How many miles on the motor? Any more descriptions of the situation would be quite useful at this point.

Begin by checking the THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. This is your most likely culprit.

Why does my 1999 90 horsepower johnson idle but bogs down when accelerating

if this is a 2 stroke and went under water the problem may be damaged reed valves on the inlet side of the crankcase. Working all right when the air flow is low but do not seal of properly at rpms.. Suggest that you have an accredited outboard specialist look at it.

Motor bogs down

You could possibly turn up the idle if it bogs down when idling. If it only bogs down when you press the gas it may be a clogged fuel filter or fuel line. Could also be your fuel pump starting to go if you ride with less than a quarter of a tank of gas most of the time.

Motor bogs and wants to die when i stop with the a/c on.

What it sounds like you need to do, is adjust your BISS screw, its a little screw usually covered by rubber, sometimes not, it sits on top of your throttle body, and it adjusts how much air your car sucks when its at idle, if you adjust it for more air while idling, it should fix your problem that you described. You can use a flat head or a philips screw driver to turn the screw.

Motor bogs down at stoplight when pushin gas pedal

The fuel pump relay will cause a stalling or no start condition. You are likely having mass airflow sensor, fuel pump, or fuel pressure regulator issues.
