Brake lights are always on on 2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara. We have replaced brake light switch 3 times. We also replaced hydraulic shift sensor bolted to shifter. There is only one hot wire going to taillights and 4 of the wires are ground wires, is that right? We pushed brake light switch in by hand with a screwdriver and the lights still stay on.

Do you have a brake fluid accumulator(ABS)? If yes, the pistons/pulsing assembly are worn, and may need to be replaced.

If not, you may have a vacuum leak in the power booster (located on the firewall). Check all hose and clamps for a tight fit/cracks,etc. Vacuum leaks cause intermittent brake failure lights.

You may want to park the vehicle on a clean surface, pump the brakes a few times, and check for brake fluid leaks. If there is a leaking wheel cylinder (back brakes) , caliper (front brakes), or brake line, you will be able to see it.

Leaks cause pressure loss, and, thus, the brake warning light will illuminate.

SLOW SHIFTING FROM 4 LOCK TO 4 HIGH

You can operate the transfer switch either when the vehicle is stopped or while the vehicle is moving. I always operate the switch while stopped. Put the shift lever in neutral and step on the brake with the front wheels pointed straight forward. Now switch from 4H lock to 4H. If no immediate response, turn the steering wheel slightly back and forth and it should shift to 4H for you.

Hello everyone, I have a suzuki grand vitara 2002 sport. For more then a week now I'm having a trouble with it. The engine start but I cannot put it on D, R or N. It's stuck on P and the lights...

check the brake safety switch located on the top of the brake pedal up under the dash, if it has shorted, it won't give the signal to let you switch gears , it may have a fuse to it, I'm not sure on this model,, but if its shorting it could have blown another fuse also, Like the signal one, Check all the fuses and replace as necessary, also reach up and click that switch a couple of times to see if that will release the shifter,, if it does, replace it before you get totally stuck someplace

What fuse needs replaced for the break lights on a suzuki grand vitara 2006?

Obviously, in different markets, there will be different wiring set-ups. In Australia, both the brake lights and horn work when the ignition is off and they share a fuse. If your horn doesn't work, maybe your brake lights don't either.

Cant shift out of park

There is usually a button behind the brake pedal which does two things.

A. it actuates your brake light

B. It also unlocks the the gear selector

Sometimes they simply need an adjustment usually a 13mm lock nut and advance the switch in small incriments.
