The oil level sensor seem to be the issue, get it checked.

    also
look for leaks. The two place that are most
likely guilty are the drain plug and the oil filter. If there are no
leaks, check your oil level. You or someone else may have forgotten to
refill your car with oil after it was drained.

If you have oil and your dip stick shows that you are significantly
overfilled, let your car set a minute or two and try again. Sometimes
old sediment can get stirred up and cover the screen near your oil
pump. If you start it again and the light stays on, listen to your
engine if you can hear the lifters clacking, turn your car off and have
it towed to a mechanic. Or, if you prefer, pull your oil pan and
replace your oil pump yourself. If the lifters are quiet, you probably
need to replace your oil pressure sending unit.

How to check to see if the crank shaft is bad

if crankshaft is bad, run an oil pressure test first. at least 10 psi per 1000 rpm. if oil pressure is good, something else is wrong. there is also a crankshaft sensor.

My change oil light came on and I just had a oil change 1000 miles ago? why is this happening?

Your oil light indicates a low level of oil in the engine.
Check the level and fill it.
Running the car with low oil can destroy the engine.
Take it back to where you had the oil changed and tell them. then plug oil pug may not be seated or the filter may not be seated.

2004 Rodeo, 103,000 miles. no oil leaks so I guess its burning oil. Oil is maybe a qt. low after 1000 since change. Engine still sounds fine but I don't know what a new engine sounds like since I bought...

if you are using a quart of oil every 1000miles,that is NORMAL FOR A MODERN ENGINE.thats why they last so much longer than the old technology.you could try 20/50 oil when you next change as that will help.but worry when it gets to pint every 350 miles.

My oil light flickers on and off at low idle what do you think is wrong?

You have answered your own question. You idle is too low. Check all hoses, and gaskets for leaks.

2004 Dodge Intrepid "jumps" occasionally when braking?

if your car has the 2.7 litre you have to change the oil every 5oookm or 3000 miles and use the exact grade as per the book.
the 2.7 has small oil galleries.
you have low oil pressure and or idle speed.check the rpm and it should be 700 unloaded at warm temp.if the iac controller is bad and there is low idle, really low rpm could trigger the oil light to come on and the transmission vacuum controls will be causing strange behavior.

Burning oil, but dont know why

Nowdays 1 Qt. in 3000 miles, really isn't that bad, even some new vehicles claim that's normal. I know with my current vehicles, both at approx. 150,000-160,000 miles, they won't use any for first while after an oil change, but then after mileage starts adding up again, they start to use a little, approx.I Qt, every 1000 miles or so, until it's changed again. I've switched to the high mileage oil, just for piece of mind, as they say it revives seals, and has added protection for the higher mileage engines. This time around I'm thinking of adding "Lucas" & see how it works, as I've heard some pretty good reports on it, just to see if it will prolong that oil breakdown, at mid change.
