When driving at a decent speed there not a problem, but when I slow down, stop, or get ready to turn the car turns off sometimes. When slowing down the car does a jerking motion also. I getting ready to take my car to the shop later this week but if it's a simple problem maybe I can fix it myself. If you have any ideas let me know ASAP. I'm on a tight budget so if you have any ideas please let me know.

Re: Car turns off when slowing down or stopping.
I would check for a vacuum leak. The age of the car coupled with the vacuum controlled items in the car would make this a possibility. Using the brakes would use engine vacuum and that coupled with a vacuum leak would make the car stumble or run rough.

when your car stalls by turning left or right, usually a loose or a
glazed belt is suspected. reason being is that the pump is being put
under a load by the power steering piston. making belt slip because it
needs more torque to spin pulley. also draws more current, so check idle
speed and spark plugs.
Some of the classic symptoms, stalling at dead stops. failure to auto lock doors. poor fuel economy. Failure to go to overdrive.
Go to your local parts store and run the failure codes.
Your ECU thinks that the engine is running with out moving, During slow down the engine steps down the idle to match ground speed and as a result the engine will not stall. At present it goes directly to idle and stalls due to drag on motor.
Hope this tip helps.
I have the same car. So far no problems with the Transmision. I had the Trans oil change out every 60 K
Sure sounds like you need to get the Transmision checked. Is the fault light on. I have invested ina fault code reader sure is worth it.
Good luck. Vilmos
Sounds like youi may have a few serious problems going on to have that kind of back lash occuring at higher speeds. I have experiance with low spped clunks on Bronkos and your type of vech being a car dealer. One you might try for low speed clunk on take off and braking at stop likts just completeing a stop? Pull the drive shaft and lubricate the splin - two check your leaf springs for weakness and wore bushings - take a look at your shocks - three u bolts holding springs to rear axle housing may be letting the axle housing actually dip or tweak or all those thing in combination - now you may have some serious slop in the pig - transfer case may be causing that clunk - as far as high spped clunk and activity you have a serous problem and you just might drop the transferr case have an accident fliping over..............Mike South Bend Indiana don't just keep driving and making problem worst...........
