If your starter has the clip style connector on the starter itself (not the solenoid) it is the cold weather package starter. they have different starters for automatics, manuals, california models, and cold weather package. i ran into the same problem.

Find out whats wrong with my starter on my 95 paseo

-Make sure battery cable is good connect, no corrosion.
-If cable is clean and battery is full . Possibly time for new starter.
Or take the battery to auto zone for testing.

Location of starter in 93 toyota paseo

Hi,

You could see the loation of the starter on the bell housing of your transmission.
Just follow the big diameter positive(+) cable, going down into the transmission, at the end of that cable is the starter assembly. Easily reconize with a rounded tube on top with wire connected on it.

Hope that helps you out!

Thanks for using Fixya!

Cable from Battery to Starter

The starter will be positioned on the side of engine or gear box it looks like two round tubes on top of each other one small and one bigger there will be two wires going in to the smaller one of the two, the large wire is the main power feed from battery (the loose one) the smaller is the solinoid trigger wire.

What tool do i need to change out a starter on a 1992 toyota paseo i cant get the heat shield off

most likely 10mm socket. the bolt on the starter is 12mm and 14mm. there is a 6mm wire nut you have to take it off.
better off go get a set of mm sockets. instead of getting single socket at a time.
