You do not have an ignition coil as it is a diesel car[sdi], the light is the diesel pre-heater light for heating the diesel oil when it is cold as the diesel oil is thicker, the fault is the brake light switch just above the brake pedal and is quite easy to change[it just turns 90deg] I dont know why the fuel heater light comes on at the same time but assume it shares an earth with the brake lights at the ecu, switch is about £11 from gsf car parts.

Golf 4 1.6 sr estate, lack of power, number 4 cilinder spark plug always wet, as soon as you load the family and try going up a hill it takes you a while

You need to replace the no.# 4 ignition coil!
Don't drive the car with this no.# 4 cylinder misfire, because the catalytic converter will be damaged by unburned petrol!
Just replace the no.# 4 ignition coil! That's all the job.

Fails to start in morning also after short trips battery runs flat glow plugs light come on

most common fault is the mass air flow meter for throwing on the heater plug warning light ,this is on a later common rail diesel ,also you may need some new heater plugs

I have a VW mk4 2002 1.6 Estate . The EPC light intermittently comes on and the car loses power. What can I do about this?

You will need to have a suitable diagnostic tester plugged in to read the fault that has been logged. Air mass (or air flow) meters are a fairly common thing that can go wrong.

Golf mk4 sdi brake light problem??

What colour is this light.
The Golf mk4 sdi certainly should have brake pad wear sensors front and rear and the light on dash for this is orange with a similar symbol to what you describe.
The ABS light is orange with ABS printed on it

Vacuum leak somewhere.
Possibly could be the O2 sensor (the one before the cat up front).
I'd search for a vacuum leak since you may have rattled something loose.
