I have 02 pontiac grand am and it wont start, it cranks over and getting spark and getting fuel, I replaced crank sensor, however i pulled spark plugs and didnt smell gas in the cylinders when someone else was cranking it with the key. not sure if fuel rail is bad or if the computer isnt letting the fuel into cylinders. the fuel rail is getting fuel cause i checked the release pressure valve like on a tire which is located on front side of motor. what is my problem?

Attempt to start the car by turning the key to the Start/Run Position.
Observe that the vehicle fails to start and that the security light is illuminated. leave the key in the 'ON/Accessory' Position. (DO NOT turn key to the 'off' position.)
Allow the vehicle to sit with the key in the 'ON/Accessory' Position for no less than 12 minutes.
Turn key to off position and allow the vehicle to remain in the 'OFF' position for no less than 30 seconds. Then start the engine. This worked for me.

sounds like you dont have enough fuel preasure. if you say you do then check injectors listen to see if you can here them clicking or use an injector test light to make sure they are pulsing. go with and see . good luck.

Is the security light on? If you have spark and fuel, it should run. Any codes? Could be bad crank sensor or cam sensor.

Pontiac Grand Prix. Crank, no start? I have fuel and spark.

Question edited for clarity and 'spake' to 'spark'.
Question moved to model category.

Likely to be no fuel at the injectors or a sensor. If that is the case, you need an auto electrician.

I have a 97 pontiac grand prix and it will turn over but it wont start. i've had it look at my a couple mechanics and they said it wasnt my fuel pump maybe its the coil pack, so i buy a new set of

Learning how to test a GM distributor less ignition system rather then guessing an replacing parts is the proper way to diagnose . Pulling a couple of pull wires of the same coil an having someone crank the engine over to see if there is spark would the first test . If there is no spark ,could be the ignition module , or the crankshaft postion sensor .

The car starts 99% of the time but every once in a while it won't restart after it has been driven for a few miles. It cranks over but won't start until it has been sitting awhile.

first you need to check if its fire or fuel the next time it wont start pull the plug wire off and hold it close to metal and have someone crank it if it sparks check to see if you got fuel pressure at fuel rail or throttle body but be careful it could be high pressure if no spark an intermittent problem could be ecm or crank sensor no fuel pressure could be fuel pump in tank

Replacing O2 sensor on 2004 Pontiac Grand Am

Testing fuel pressure with the proper testing equipment would be the best way , not by dribbles out of the fuel system test port . Fuel pressure gauge can be bought for $ 25.00 buck's ! What engine does it have 2.2 -4cylinder or 3.4 l V-6 ? Pull the plug wires from the same coil pack , crank the engine , is there spark ? Fuel pressure should be 52-59 psi) . I can't see that replacing the O2 sensor would cause a no start problem , unless you unhooked something your unaware of . Find out what the fuel pressure is and if it has spark an go from there .

Car cranks but wont start

replace your injectors. your vehicle is getting the fuel to start from the starter fluid. however the injectors arent giving it the gas that it needs to stay cranked
