Check engine light on restricted performance amber light on my 02 jag xj

What codes do you have?

Get the codes, look them up &
have a repair start over & resolve,
unless you can handle the fix

It is either in fail safe for overheating, ignition misfires
or trans problems

Need to turn off engine service light. We do our own maintenance work but cannot get the light off.

If you disconnect the negative(-) battery cable this should reset your check engine light. If the light comes back on right away the problem isn't fixed.

What is stability control? light came on

Hi

Sounds like usual gremlins kicked in to your computer, with the flat battery.

Disconnect both terminals of the battery, switch on the ignition to start position 6 times, to clear the computer memory.

Reconnect Positive terminal + then Negative --- and start engine, and check it out.

I am pretty sure it will not come back on.

Also I suggest you get the battery tested soon as possible.

( Is it the original battery ?) If so, its shot !

Good Luck !

Please give me a FixYa rating please !

Let me know how you get on .

John.

Jag xj8 3.2 v8 charge light staying on

try putting your vehicle on a diagnostic check although you have changed the alternator the ECU ( car computer ) may still think that the alternator is still faulty a diagnostic check will cure your problem by clearing the fault codes on your ECU
