2005 merc grand marquis Headlights keep blowing a fuse

Does your Grand Marquis have head lamps with auto lamps ? Which fuse keeps blowing ? Could be a shorted LCM - lighting control module ?

Lighting Control Module (LCM)
The LCM eliminates the electronic interference and heat associated with the thermoelectric devices used previously. The LCM is a microprocessor-based module that controls several vehicle subsystems. It responds to electrical input signals from various switches, sensors, and external modules..

Dash lights and tail lights don't work

Lights and electrical circuits are sometimes in pairs so that you notice something is wrong (tail lights and dash). On a '90 merc grand marq., that would be fuse #4,the 15 amp blue one, in the panel next to your left foot. If you are lucky,it
just failed from age. If you are not lucky, there is a short in the system containing
the dash, tail, parking, side marker, license lamps and trailer tow relay if equiped.I had to replace the push/pull main light switch which was shorted. If you are lucky, just replacing the fuse in the panel will do it. Referance Grand Marquis Owners Manual for fuses and function.

Put coolant in and strts tripping in back of engine even if car is cold

Possible leaking expansion plug in the rear water jacket or maybe a warped cylinder head or blown head gasket. Lights and mirrors will help track it down. Might get expensive to repair if it's the head or it's gasket. Hope this helps!

No air coming out air vents whats my problem i hae a 99 merc ls

If you have the electronic automatic climate control, it's likely that the rubber O-rings inside the vacuum solenoids in the EATC unit are leaking. Usually you'll get cold air only out the defrost vents or floor with this problem.

If you are mechanically oriented, you can fix it yourself. I repaired the EATC unit in my 2004 Mercury Marauder in about three hours.

Complete instructions, including photographs and the part numbers for new O-rings and the dielectric grease for reassembly can be found in the user forums at

This is a manufacturing issue with the EATC head unit, so if you get a new one, get a written warranty. A new EATC unit is around $600.00. The parts to do the work yourself are about $12.00.

Hope this helps!
