Question about 1999 Daewoo Nubira

1 Answer

Headlights not working

Idiot me left the lights on when I got home. Battery flat and had to jump start. Now no headlights. plugged and played with all of the fuses, relays and swaped and changed the bulbs - no joy.

Do I need to sacrafice chickens, stand with one foot in a bucket of water and beep the horn three times or just take it to my mechanic ?

Kind regards

Alistair

P.S.: Already tried the bucket of water thing.

    Hi

On the right track. Kept the beast in low gear (as much as you can call a Daewoo a beast), took two days but with the battery fully charged she came good. Literaly driving to work on parkers and then the headlights come on.

Mind you I'm not sure that the chicken and bucket of water didn't do the trick either.

To my mind it seems that headlights run directly of the battery and unless that is on par no lights.

Thankyou very kindly for your response.

    Regards

    Alistair

I think the next step is replacing the battery.. You may have draine dit so far that there is not enough juice to power the lights..

Is your car somewhere where you can sit in the car and see the headlight beams? Put the headlights on and turn the key. If the headlights go dim like a glow worm, your battery is flat.

That can be caused by a few things.
Something electrical left on in the car. Charge it up, or get a jump.
Faulty battery. New one.
Worn out battery, they last 5 years. New one.

You say it worked 2 weeks ago? That makes me believe that your battery is flat and worn out. For a few quid, you can get a battery charger at Halfords, and if you are going to be leaving the vehicle for extended periods, you might like to invest in a battery maintainer. These connect to the battery and provide a small tickle charge to keep the battery topped up. They use little power.

If the headlights stay bright, then the solenoid or starter is at fault. You will need one or the other replaced.

Have you tried jumping the car yet? What have you tried so far? I would get someone to jump it real quick. Theres other ways to see if battery is dead but a quick way is to get a jump then tell us what happens. Good luck-

Gave a jump start and now headlights don't work on a 2005 yukon denali

sound like battery has weak or battery terminals and post need cleaning. have battery charged and checked, if battery good. alternator not charging battery. if battery over 5 years old more likely battery is bad.if battery too weak head lights wont turn on battery dead this time of year if battery old. cold weather will finish it out.

Vehicle will not start. lights and power comes on,

OPEN BONNET AND MAKE SURE THE BATTERY TERMINALS ARE CLEAN AND TIGHT, SWITCH ON THE HEADLIGHTS AND TRY TO START THE ENGINE , IF THE HEADLIGHTS GO VERY DIM WHEN YOURE TRYING TO START , THE BATTERY IS PROBABLY FLAT , TRY JUMP START.

the 12 amp is for a jump start and the 2 amp is for a trickle charge which doesn't degrade the battery. i believe you have a loose connection either a loose ground cable or the positive cable to the starter check these and tighten if neccessary

Hello!

check your battery cables & connections ! also turn on your headlights & try to start your engine & have someone watch your headlights & see if your headlights dim you have bad battery or connections if they don't dim you could have a bad starter or bad connection @ starter !!

This sounds like an alternator problem and most likely a defective battery, have them tested by Kragen auto it's free.
