Question about 1990 Mazda MX-6

1990 Mazda MX6, Turns over, will not start

Car was working with no issues, it sat for one full day unused, went to start it next day. Car will turn over....has a strong starting sound. Coughs, but will not catch. Any basic troubleshooting ideas?

Do you have any enemies? Did someone contaminate the fuel? Also, was it parked near a field, or somewhere near where there may be mice or other rodents? Check for water in the fuel system, it happens this time of the year.

Check the car's battery is is more than likely totally flat if it has sat for 8 years . A jump start may bring it back to running.

CAR WONT START


CKP sensor or cam sensor. one goes bad and causes other to go bad. easy fix and not too expensive.

A new battery won't start my 1990 es250 lexus. the car sat unused for about 3 years. how can i make the battery work.


pull your spark pluggs squirt some wd 40 in each hole to be shure it is not froze alot can happen in 3 years. make shure to dissconect coil wire before attemting to start.

Someone told me it was probably the distributor, hence, I replaced it and the car is now working real fine.

Have you checked that you have power to the coil on cranking?You may also want to check wether you have a good strong spark at the spark plug.It could be an ignition module breaking down.If you have no power to the coil you may need to change the ignition relay.Its close to the battery.

did you try replacing the ignition module?
every time that happened to me, it was exactly that. I have found an inexpensive way of repairing this.
