Rear lights not working

Hi, i have a toyota hilux/tacoma that rear lights, instrument light, interior lights, positionlights front and rear, trailer connector does NOT work.
BUT position indicators, daytime running lights, brake light, reverse light does work.

I have checked fuse 7, 10Amps = OK

What can the problem be, are there any wiring diagram to get any where?

That fuse have been checked its no7 according to manual, but ALL fuses have been checked and no one is broken. I even replaced the Tail fuse just in case it looks whole but are broken. still the same fault. There are no visible corrotion in the trailor connector.

    regards Tina

Hi I am having the same exact problem- how did you fix this?? I have NO blown fuses - checked with a multimeter

The power sequence is as follows:

Battery - 80 amp ALT fuse (under the hood) - taillamp relay (under the hood) - 10amp PANEL and 10 amp TAIL - The TAIL fuse branches off, thru the integration relay, which powers the rear lamps/number plate lamp. It also branches another way, straight to the rear marker lamps. The PANEL is for the instrument lighting.

If you just had marker lamps, and no brake lamps, I would suspect the integration relay. But, since you have brake lamps, the integration relay is not the culprit, and good that it is not, because it is expensive.

You are checking the fuses with a test light, not just visibly inspecting them?

Look for a blown "Tail" fuse.

If it is blown, My first opinion is the trailer harness. This is the number one cause for fuses blowing; Check the trailer connector for obvious corrosion. Then get back to me.

Toyotas sometimes have multiple power wires coming off of the battery to fuse blocks. One of these wires may be broken. Electrical schematics are available on-line or in repair manuals. If you don't have one, go to the library and look in the repair manual section.

Break lights stay on,dash lights come on with break peddle..

I'd say you have a short in one of the rear light clusters, or possibly somebody wired a trailer socket wrong. Your dash lights are back-feeding from the rear brake light.

How to wire trailer lights to a toyota tacoma

The easiest way is to get the kit that plugs into the taillight harness to adapt your plug. If one isn't easily available then you can use scotch locks to splice into your trucks harness. Use a test light to make sure you locate the right wires in your trucks harness and go by the wire diagram on the instructions from the plug to hook it up.
I hope this helps!

Trailer signal lights are dim when hooked to '04 tacoma

Look for ground issue, in my opinion the frame should not be used as a ground, always makes problems, eventually, but run an external ground to the lights and view results....

2003 Sienna tail lights don't work when headlights are on

Look under the dashboard, next to/above the park brake pedal, for the interior fuse box. It has a black plastic cover. Remove the TAIL fuse, and see if it is blown. This should get you fixed up. Hope this helps, and Thanks for choosing FixYa.

2007 Tacoma Tail light problem.

Check the taillamp fuse on the truck. If it is blown, you either have a short in the wiring of the camper, or the 7 pin inverter box on the camper.
