Idles high

Find the Idle Air Control Valve located near the throttle body...remove, (2 screws) clean with injector spray, including the spring, also spray into the housing and wipe out as sensor is removed...should auto reset as you drive above 35 mph...you can replace the Idle Air Control Valve for about $35.

93 gmc safari 4.3 W engine code on long trips (25) miles the van will not idle and you have to pump the gas to start it but once it cools down and in town short trips it runs fine any ideas ?

The fuel pressure regulator is dumping raw fuel into the engine or the EGR valve is stuck open. Check for a fault code 32 (EGR) and test the fuel pressure for a stable or constant reading. ( Not dropping)

I have a 1994 gmc safari. It seems to have a smooth idle at times

Im not sure if you got it fixed yet! It could possibly be idle air control valve. But here some more suggestions! I had a 94 Safari van 4.3 liter I was working on for about three days and I finally figured out what was wrong with it. It would run fine for a couple minutes and as soon as I hit the gas and let off it would surge, but anyways I ended up changing the distributer, after the fuel pump and filter, mass air flow sensor, egr valve, idle air control valve, map sensor, and ignition module. So that might sove the problem if you were on the same track with it as I was. Hope this helps ya!

94 GMC SAFARI IDLE FAST RUN FINE BUT WHEN DRIVE IF YOU PUSH GAS SLOWLY DRIVE FINE ; IF YOU FLOOR IT ] IT STALLS

First thing to check is the fuel filter. It is likely getting clogged and starving the engine for fuel under heavy load.
