Usually if the trans is acting up new fluid isn't going to change a thing, that's usually a ploy to get you to spend some money, just what I have seen.. Q: does the trans act up more or less when hot or cold, if there is a difference with temp then changing the fluid isn't going to help you, but that's my opinion, I been a dodge tech for 17 years but anything is possible with cars......
no i dont think so if this is a newer model with electronic speedo then if the gear change doesnt work it could be the speedo drive as the computer reads the vehicle speed to control the shifting ,take the sensor out and check the nylon gears as this is the most likely cause of your problem
I just had this problem two weeks ago, the problem is in the iginition switch which is not sending an electrical current to the fuse that registers your RPM's which will kill the speedomoter too. when this occurs the transmission will set itself on overdrive and not actually do any gear changes so you will be really sluggish until you reach about 40-50mphs then you should be fine. once the iginition switch is fixed, you should be back to normal.
FYI I have a 1995 GMC 1500 with 5.7 truck that the ABS Light comes on
and then the tranny starts jumping gears and speedo goes crazy-
Changed ignition switch and that did not help. You said that you had changed the speed sensor on the tranny and that did not help ?? If so that was my next step. Let me know if you find and answer and I will do likewise.
The tachometer acts as the trigger for auto shifting the gears. Since the speedometer has conked out, it will assume your car speed to be in that range and therefore not shifting up as usual. Replace the speedometer and after doing that check the response on their computerized diagnostics to check the correct response is read by the chip which triggers the gear change.........................sodeep
When they rebuilt your transmission they didn't hook back the speed sensor to the connector. I think the problem with the A.c is something else your spark plugs cables might need change and spark plugs too
I had the same problem with ABS light and speedometer, I was told that it is the transmission control module. It has not yet stopped shifting but I have had times where it just wont stay running. It will start and then stall. Hope this helps.
