Screeching noise is oil on the belt. Power loss & leak sounds like a head gasket.

SOURCE: car loses power when going

The first thing you need to check is fuel pressure. If you don't have a fuel pressure gauge you can buy one from a tool supplier, but the gauge may costs more than the diagnosis from a shop.
Another thing you may want to check is you catalytic convertor to make sure that it is not plugged.

SOURCE: Loud Sqeaul/screech from engine upon start up

could be your alternator. at start up. alternator usually has a big load because you just use your starter. it would recharge the battery and after a while the battery would be fully charge, the squealing noise will be gone.

check also all the belts if they are individual belts. use some belt dressings to eliminate the noise. sometimes the belt are just worn out and it would also make these noises.

tnx 4 using fixya,

SOURCE: Overheating/Loss of power

Unless water pump bearing is loose or noisy or the pump is leaking, that's not your problem. Have the system flushed. Thermostat is also likely not the problem but with repeated overheats or near-overheats it will become unreliable so change it as a precaution.

SOURCE: whining or grinding noise/screech when we turn the wheel

Dear Screech And Whine......What you have described is definitely a power steering concern. And yes the fluid is low.....thanks for the accurate problem description!! You are correct on the filling the fluid part also......but keep in mind that if your power steering fluid is lo that you might very well also have a ps leak too.You can do a visual check and trace all of your ps lines to make sure that no fluid is escaping anywhere.....You ae more tha welcome to get back to me if you have any further questions...HOPE I COULD HELP!!!

When the engine really got hot is there a possibility you may have over expanded some parts and now the engine is sort of tight and is not spinning fast enough to start.

Check for spark and fuel delivery but ......................

My 98 x3 Hyundai Excel manual DOHC has just started losing power coming up hills. It feels like you've gone into gear too soon, but I havent. It also starts jerking. No lights come on either.

Hi Karina, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

Karina, it sounds like the "Clutch is Slipping" several things can cause this. (1) The clutch could be slipping under load going up the hill because it has oil on it, "Due To An Oil Leak". (2) The Slave Cylinder could be going bad or it could have air in the system due to a seal leak or low on fluid. 2001 DODGE 5.9L GAS RUNS POOR NO POWER

If your Dodge is a Ram and is consuming oil it could be a plenum gasket. They are known to go bad and cause oil consumption along with knocking sounds and lack of power when on throttle hard, towing or going up hills. This is due to vacuum leaks caused by the bad gasket. I think it runs about $300 to $500 to have dealer fix.

It loses power on acceleration and serious loss of power on hills

sounds like a clogged fuel filter. you need to have the engine pressure checked for leaks, you can rent the pressure checker at autozone, it connects to ur radiator and u pump pressure into the cooling system if u find water leaking around the head u know u have a blown head gasket. if ok then check the cylinder compression should beable to rent this also. it screws into the spark plug holes has a gauge on it. alternator problem w/ the light is probaly you need to tighten the belt.hope this helps!!!

1999 Dodge Ram van 1500 no pick up power

I had a similiar problem on my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Conversion Van. It ended up being a partial collapse of the catalytic converter which didn't allow adequate exhaust. The problem only showed itself because I could not get over 55 mph going up a small hill.
