In the ower's manual it is listed as Malfunction Indicator Light # 9, and as of this morning it has stayed on when running , seems to be running okay guages all look good, but for some reason this light is on, not flashing on constient . Is this apart of the check engine light , I m not sure?

    emissionwiz,

update for the 2004 jeep, I filled the gas tank this morning , put some Lucas Oil in the tank ,the light went out. and has not been on since. Still plan on taking the Jeep to Auto Zone to run emission system check . but right now seems to fine. Thank you again for your Help.

Is it amber coloured? If it is have Auto Zone, Kragen or any chain parts store run a emission system trouble code test, then post the code back on this thread, let me know.

Most likely there is either a gas cap that was not properly tightened or one of the O2 sensors is starting to fail.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee temp gauge high when heat is on

If your "check engine" light is turn on, I suggest scanned the PCM to know exactly what fault code is stored there. Additionally, could be some problem with the "temp sending unit".

Would the malfunction indicator light come on if l need a tune up on my 2004 jeep grand cherokee

Tune up would need to be really overdue to the point that something was severely out of range. have a code test done to narrow down the problem area (most larger parts stores do that free) And, if it hasn't been tuned in a million years, it won't hurt to get that done and out of the way as well. (will give you a better baseline for testing)

Malfunctioning Indicator Light still on....

Check the injector for proper voltage. Check the cam sensor,,,,,DO NOT remove it unless you index it to the block. generally, a malfunction of the sensor will affect all cylinders, PS: you did check to make sure there is adequate spark at #1 plug, right?

Malfunction indicator not turning off

That was a good idea getting the VAG codes. You should get to a jeep dealer who can analyze the problem.

2004 jeep grand laredo MIL(malfunction indicator light)

Yes it can be caused by low quality fuel, and your gas cap not being installed properly. Best bet is the gas cap, so take it off and screw it back on. Then take your vehicle to autozone and hook up diagnostics to clear your MIL.
