Check the engine oil level in your engine. If you also get the oil light coming on when making a hard corner along with when you brake sometime, it might be that the oil is just a bit lower than it should be and the movement (sloshing) of the oil in the oil pan might cause the oil pickup in the engine to be starved for oil for a few seconds.

1998 Dodge Stratus 2.4l bogs down suddenly while at cruising speed

You need to get the engine trouble codes by performing the "keydance" or using a code reader, then start checking fuel pressure at pump and regulator. Best luck. Amclaussen.

I have a 2002 Dodge Stratus, When I come to a stop, the oil tight comes on but, when I take my foot off the breaks and asccelerate ( or put any gas to it) the light goes out. PLEASE HELP!

You are developing low oil pressure at idle this is a common problem with Dodge stratus. If you fail to have it fix you will definetly loose the timing chain and the whole enginecansmo_198.gif

Oil light comes on below 1000 rpm's 1998 dodge stratus

If there is really a problem, resetting the computer won't fix it...if there is not a problem, you can reset and the light will stay off. After reset, you may have to drive the car a couple of hours before the light would come back on, because the computer...for lack of a better term..."re-learns" before giving proper readings. If your oil pressure is actually dropping, and it is not a computer glitch or a sending unit problem, then you likely have a problem with your oil pump. Good Luck! I hope you find this to be very helpful!

Cant get spring of rear brakes to change them

There are brake spring tools that can be found at your auto parts store. I would use a screwdriver and long nose pliers when the proper tool wasn't available.

Oil light fickers or stays solid when braking

I had the same problem on a 2002 Stratus. I also had a Diagnostics Code of P0455(EVAP leak). I replaced the gas cap and this fixed the problem. I don't know what EVAP leak had to do with the oil pressure light coming on, but the new gas cap fixed it.

98 Dodge Stratus won't start

Best place to start is with "check engine light". Put vehicle in park, foot on brake, and cycle key on, off, on, off, on, then wait with pen & paper ready to read flashes of check engine lamp. Will be a 2 digit code each time. For example, flash, short pause & flash, will be 11, or flash, flash, short pause, flash, flash would be 22. In between trouble codes you'll get a little longer pause, then it will start to flash again if more than one code, which is quite possible. Also note that I say key to on, not start, just on.(normal run position) Then get back to us and we'll be able to better help you.
