the vss connector has all fo it wires, still there is a single wire thats lose. I see a connection that looks like its goes through the back fire wall. is that a connection point? because the wire end of the single wire that is broke off seems to fit that on the back wall. if so is that a connection point and does this have any thing to do with the transmission shifting.

Not knowing what the wire connects to on the engine side, I can't tell you if that is the cause of your problem. White with red would indicate a sensor/sender of some kind. Do all your gauges work? Tell me more about the shifting problem, how does it shift? How many miles are on it?

Does the VSS have a wire connected to it?? If that wire goes to the VSS, that is probably the cause of your problem. The VSS tells the computer what the engine/vehicle speed is, without that info, the computer doesn't know when to shift the transmission.

I have a 2004 F150 supercrew 4x4 and it will not shift into park and when I start it I have to put it into neutral any help Thanks

Sounds like the shift interlock circuit has an issue.

This can be 1 of 3 places

1. The fuse for the Shift Interlock circuit. This is fuse #16

2. The shift interlock switch. This is part of the BPP ( Brake Pedal Position ) Switch that also controls the brake lamps. There are 2 switches in the BPP switch, 1 for the shift interlock, the other the brakes. The circuit in the BPP switch for the shift interlock is the Tan w/ Red stripe wire ( from fuse # 16 ) to Pink w/ Light Green stripe ( to the shift interlock solenoid ).
Test both side of this circuit with a meter ( to ground ) you should have power on the Tan w/ Red stripe wire any time the key is in the Start or Run position.
The Pink w/ Light Green stripe wire should have power any time the brake pedal is pressed down.
If you do not have power at the Pink w/ Light Green stripe wire, you need a new BPP switch.
If you have power with the brake pedal pressed on this wire, you need a new Shift Interlock Solenoid.

Can't get Shifter out of park on a 2005 F150 ford Truck.

If this is a new body style 2004 ( not a heritage or lightning ) did you check fuse #16 ? This is the fuse for the shift interlock switch on the brake pedal.

IF this fuse is good, check the shift interlock section of the brake pedal position ( BPP ) switch ( on the side of the brake pedal lever, usually has a yellow c-clip cover on it ).
The wires for the shift interlock circuit
Fuse #16 to Tan w/ REd stripe wire
Pink w/ light green stripe to the shift interlock solenoid.

If there is power on the Tan w/ REd stripe wire, press the brake pedal down, and check the pink w/ light greens stripe wire for power ( switch is closed when brake pedal is pressed.

If you do not have power on the pink w/ light greens stripe wire, you need a new BPP switch.
If you have power on the pink w/ light greens stripe wire, you need a new shift interlock solenoid.

I'm having trouble installing a radio in my 1992 toyota celica

go to any auto parts store and ask for a 12 volt test light, it has a bulb inside and a pointed end like an ice pick, u attach one end to a good ground and then probe wires for power, when u have a hot wire with 12 volts the light in the handle will shine on. They cost about $6.00 at Kragen I think.
