What kind of trouble are you experiencing? Does the engine turn over but no start? If you keep on trying does it finally starts? If it starts can you see a black smoke at the back/or smell fuel?

I'm pretty sure you've got a fuel problem here. It could be the cold start injection or could also be the fuel filter or fuel pum. I would go for the fuel filter check first. When cranking the engine try to listen from if you hear a humming sound from the back near the fuel tank, if yes it means the fuel pump is working. Let us know how you get on.
Cheers.

Hi Colin, I suggest a diagnostic scan. It seems to me that you have a internal failure with one or more sensor or other problems with the ABSystem. Regards John

Want start, turn key on you get power but want turn over, have checked batt, alt, start motor? would t be the ignition

Hello rhw... It could be simply that the car isn't fully in park. Go out to the vehicle with the key. Turn it to on and put it in neutral. Then use some force to jam it into park. Then try to start it. Repeat if necessary. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

Go to www.hmaservice.com and register( Vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you have access to shop manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, etc. about your vehicle... .OR... Take/Tow your vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership and pay the diagnostic fee... they will tell you exactly what the problem is and the cost of parts/labor to fix it... at least this way you'll know what the problem is and what's required to fix it.

When I turn on the car and start driving it will

NEED check engine light code. just shooting in the dark, but it could be your throttle position sensor or the gear indicator (some times called neutral safety switch). to try and reset it (works on some models) when its doing this (giving you grief). pull over to the side of the road when safe and shut off the car (put in park) then press the accelerator all the way to the floor for 30 seconds. then start the car (take foot off of accelerator first) might cure the problem. engine error code would be most helpfull

I have hyndai elantra 2001 automatic sometimes hesitant to start.

Sounds like a fuel pressure problem. Check/inspect your electrical connections to the fuel pump (power & ground). Also, connect a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel line at the fuel injector rail - leave it connected so if and when you have this problem again, you will be able to determine if the cause is fuel pressure/pump.

2004 hyundai elantra starter

You culd be having more than one problem. First if you are having problem putting the car in park. The car may not actually be fully in park and therefore the neutral safety switch is active and telling to car you are in revers or in gear. If this is true then your car won't start for safety reasons. Try putting it in Neutral and see if it starts then. Ormay have a neutal safety switch that is bad. Can you hear the starter click when you turn the key to start?
