Easy enough to see... if you look at the front wheels you will see a disc.. a metal disc.. (disc brakes) if you then hop under the rear of the car and look at the rear brakes you should see discs as well like the front, if not then you have drums...

thats my 2 cents

Chances are that you may well have front disk brakes and rear drum brakes as is with my 89 corolla 1600 4a-f (engine type). although it is possible to have all 4 be disk brakes.

Your 89 Corolla has drum brakes at the rear.
The graciousness of a FIxYa rating would be greatly appreciated.

My toyota corolla2005 rear right side wheel scrubing th tire when breaks

I would first check the break parts on that tire. remove the tire...making sure you take the precaution to chock the other tires and use an appropriate jack and proceed to removing the tire. Once the tire is down look at the the components for wear. Some break pads come equipped with a metal blade that once the pad wears out this metal plate comes in contact with the rotar or drum and makes a high pitch metal grind sound. This would be the indicator to change your pads and may possibly need to resurface your rotars or drums to spec. Let me know if that's what it was. GE.

Where is the location of the bolts on the tourque convertor?

there is usually and access cover on the bottom right behind the oil pan, the bolts are on the back of the flywheel. This is true with most automatics but if it is different I know a guy who has changed these out before that I can ask.

Breaks

if you look at rear wheels either from behind or look thru rim if there a rotor --looks like front u have 4 wheel disk--- if not drum ---reason cant tell u straight off is because rear disk were an option on certain style levels

I need to replace my rear brakes on my Toyota Corolla 2002, but, how can I get the hub off.

behind the hub on the backside is a slot on the bottom putting a screw driver in and working in and up and down motion will turn the little wheel that adjust the breaks. turning the wheel down will loosen the breaks so that they will not grab the hub hope this helps and thanks for using fixya!!!

89 toyota corolla rear drum brake problems.....

there should be three or four large nuts on the inside of the drum. now these nuts are on realy good so it takes a lot of force to get it off if you have trouble getting it off you should get an extender to help with the force. Now with the break fluid going every were it could be cause you broke the metal tube.that is easy to replace. just follow it up and undo it.
