Hi,

Initially, SWR would be suspect or most probably RFI messing with the computer and on-board electronics. As in most instances of RFI, additional shielding would be required on the electronics/computer and or a flat groundstrap strung from the front chassis, engine, battery, dashboard electronics, CB radio, vehicle body to the antenna mount.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

On most communications equipment the RF ground is equally if not more than important than the DC (power) ground. Commonly used are ground straps such as shown below.
    or
RF shielding would be encasing or providing for a conductive surface backed by an insulator over the plastic housing of electronics. In your vehicle, this would be the engine computer and the underside of the printed circuit board of the dashboard. Of course the conductive surface must be grounded preferably by a flat strap/wire rather than a round/stranded wire. An example of an RF shield is shown below.

    Cheers.

Incidentally, I have successfully used kitchen aluminum foil tied to a ground point for RFI protection.

Almost all automotive electrical/wiring uses stranded (round) wire. While they are very good for regular electrical needs, they are not adequate for devices that have radio frequency (RF). In most RF devices, the grounding uses a flat braided wire or commonly called a groundstrap. Since the wires used in the car is not adequate, then it would be suggested for the installation of a secondary grounding system/wire but this time instead of regular wires, use braided/groundstarp.

I am quite sure having installed the CB radio that you are knowledgeable and capable, however site rules require at least 18 years of age. Might I suggest that you request the assistance of your dad or an older person. That way, the site requirement of 18 yrs and above is satisfied and further information/ assistance maybe made available should it still be needed.

ahhh, magnamount, have you tried gutter or trunk mounts? magnetically mounted antennas are notorious for stray RFs. A quick check is to use a dummy load instead of the magnetically mounted antenna. Start the engine, press on the PTT, if the engine falters/dies then the RF shield and/or the ground strap is required, if not then the magnamounted antenna would have to be replaced (even if the SWR is low).

Find the radio station you would like to store. Then press and hold down the button you wish to assign to that station until you hear a BEEP. That station will then be stored to that button.

let down the window, take a chain with a hook on it ,hook it on to the  handle and if your strong enough pull the chain hard and hold it from the inside and once again if your strong enough turn around and give it a bruce lee with boots on. be careful to put a few towels between the chain and the finish you don't want to wear the solution afterward.

You could possibly have a blown head gasket. Is there an awful amount of white smoke coming out of the tailpipe? If so, that's likely to be your problem.
