Question about 1997 Honda Civic
Ok, I've owned a 1997 Civic for a couple of years but it's been sitting in the driveway for a while. We believed there were other problems with it, so i'm just now starting to mess with it... I'm not a very car savvy person either. I put a new battery in it, and it fired right up, we thought there were ignition problems but there haven't been so far. My problem is my horn, cruise control, and power windows will not work, and my SRS light is on... Please help!
With all electrical concern, may i suggest you check all your fuses. inside and outside of the car. make sure they are ok and connections are good.
then continue with the horn, you may want to start with the steering switch. make sure if you press the switch, you can hear a relay clicking under the driver side dash. that is the horn relay. if not, then trace your your steering horn switch to the relay to find it and check it. you must be familiar with voltage testing of relays and switches. you should also be familiar with continuity testings of contacts of switches and relays. same as power windows, since it was not use for a while, it could need a good lubrication and maintenance. you have to open the door panels to check the motors and lubricate the guides where the glass slides. they may be binding now. and the cables and gears.
slowly, one by one you can finish it up...
