I'm assuming this truck has Power Steering. (my 2000 Dodge Dakota does) Because the power steering pump is causing a strain on the engine when you turn the steering wheel and it is also being strained by putting the truck in 4 wheel drive, A simple tune up might be in order. By tune up I mean spark plugs, spark plug wires, air cleaner, Distributor cap and rotor button. I would also check the timing on the engine and if possible change the fuel filter (The fuel filter is a real bear on this truck because it is in the fuel tank along with the fuel pump and sending unit)

2001 dodge dakota sport dies when idleing when coming to a stop

Have you tried cleaning A.I.S. motor on side of throttle body with throttlebody cleaner? 2 or 3 torx screws normally holding it on . Remove it, clean pintle (pointed end) and shaft with cleaner, and re-install and try that. if it cures it for a while, then does it again, replace it. Be sure to spray well inside port that pintle is inserted in to clean that surface as well. ( A.I.S. = Automatic Idle Speed ) Adjusts idle as required under load conditions such as turning wheel, heater/Ac on, brakes applied etc, to step up idle to eliminate stalling.)

Front wheels not turning in 4wheel drive 1996 dodge dakota

Check and make sure the transfer case is adjusted right If the front end was broke you would know it. Jack up one front wheel and put it in 4wheel drive but not lock and see if the front drive shaft turns if it doesn't you need to adjust linkage or if it's electric make sure the signal is getting to the transfer case. If it only locks front and rear jack up one rear wheel also and do the check. Most people with 4 wheel drive don't know they have two wheel drive One in the rear and one in the front unless you ordered a locking dif from the factory they don't come this way. Then you would have 3 wheel drive

Hello my transfer box and lock box on the 4 lo imposible to change the way my truck its a 2001 dodge dakota 3.9 v6

Your bound up. You can usually get it unbound by driving back and forth. If you can't get into reverse then go to a small hill drive up a little ways then coast back down. don't drive in 4 wheel drive unless it is slick out as it can be a little bit hard on the running gear. try going forward very slowly then put on the brakes kinda hard. this may help release the bound up condition

Often times when I turn the wheel all the way weather left or right. and weather in forward or in reverse doesn't matter the truck kills. its a 2001 dodge dakota automatic.

on most power steering pumps there is a single wire idle up switch to compensate for load caused by pump switch is on pump check connection also try to find a clear parking lot drive in slow circle steer all the way see if engine dies while moving at slow speed will use less effort if engine doesnt die then check the p/s idle up switch

HAVE YOU TRIED ANOTHER KEY? REMOVE THE KEY, SPRAY LOCK LUBRICANT IN THE LOCK
PUT THE KEY ALL THE WAY IN THE LOCK, TAP THE KEY IN A LITTLE FARTHER, HOLD FOOTBRAKE DOWN, WIGGLE THE STEERING WHEEL. IT MAY HELP THE JIGGLE THE GEARSHIFT.

Make sure the fluid level is OK, if reservoir MT ad, with out the cap till air comes out and fluid gets in to system, turn the steering right to left wile You add fluid with cap off, till fluid is not longer going down and reservoir inside gets quiet, when fluid level is OK, put cap back and try it, if system did not recovered normality and loud noise comes from the pump, pump needs replacing, if steering is steel hard, no noise comes from pump, look a steering box or steering arms, if truck has Rakenpinon, look for broken boots, pit man arm

Switch tires around and see if sound moves. If it changes wheels, its a tire more than likely, but if it remains at same wheel, I'd say wheel bearing.
