Question about 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan
Ok...sometimes when I go to put my van into gear it will "kick" itself out of gear for example...put into reverse from park and it will show its in reverse but then it does a little slight **** and acts like its in neutral and does what it would as it were in neutral...put it into drive from park or reverse and it will act the same as if it were in neutral. what is going on and how to fix it!
It sounds as if the transmission's clutch plates are excessively worn. You have 2 options;
1. Replace all of the transmission fluid & the filter too. That may fix the problem although not guaranteed to work completely.
2. Do what I ultimately had to do (after trying the 1st thing) and bring it to a Transmission repair shop and have it rebuilt for $1,400 (as good as new). I thought the van was worth it and I could get a lot more miles from it of course you have to determine this for your self and your van's condition.
