1988 chev silverado v6 no power going to the fuel pump. i checked for power where it plugs into the fuel pump on top of the tank and i got no power. what actions can i take to get power

check all ur fuses for continuity first, then u can also try to swap out ur fuel pump relay with another relay that looks jus like it, be sure to use a relay like for ur horn or ac relay something that wont affect necessary or direct engine circuits like for ex. an ecm fuse or bcm fuse. if fuses r good an swappin relays wont work, next is to trace bak from fuel pump ur wires an possibly keep back probing to see if u have a broken wire from relay box to pump . good luck hope this was helpful . in ur fusebox ur fuelpump fuse should b labeled or easily found in fuse box legend, most likely on bak of fusebox cover....

1988 sable will not start .sometimes you can here the fuel pump then it starts .when you do not here the fuel pump it will not start . could this be a relay?

It's possible. Relays can and do go bad after a while, when the electrical contacts get pitted, and then the connection becomes unreliable. On many cars the relays are similar to each other. Try swapping the fuel pump relay with an AC or cooling fan or other relay, and see if the problem clears up.

How do you replace a relay switch on a 1988 300 mercedes. it looks like there are two of them behind the battery and the fire wall

There are actually 3 behind the battery and the fire wall. 1- Fuel relay switch. 2- AC relay control switch. 3- OVP Over voltage protection relay switch. They all have labels. To replace, just pull them upward. To have an easy access, remove the ECM unit blocking access first, then put it back after you replace the relay switch.

I have a 1988 300e Benz. The problem is the headlight relay seems to be out. Which relay would it be in the screwed down fuse box ? I have 5 in that box

an easy way to tell is that when you take the headlight relay out, all the headlights should go out as well. So try them one at a time. The other ones would be the turn signal flasher, fuel pump relay, emergency flasher, and AC relay.

AC Fan Relay

honestly if your vehicles temperature is stayin in an acceptable range its fine.. if the fan quits kicking on you have problems... unless you are looking for a higher performance vehicle.. but running your engine at a higher temperature requires many modifications, down to the length of your spark plugs.. because if too long or short in comparison to your enine temp the oil may not burn off and will cause the plugs to foul out..
