1988 oldsmobile cutlass cieara not overheating but windows inside continuously fogging over any answers...oil changes good everything runs good fan is kicking on appropriately car is driven by 75 yr old woman locally

Fogging of the windows inside is usually caused by a heater core leaking.
That is located under the dashboard on the passenger side. If you have an odor of anti-freeze or the floor is a little wet on that side, that's a sure sign of it leaking. Have someone check for that.

Hi! yes, 230 degrees is way too hot! If my memory is right, probably about 190 degrees. I'd check with a GM dealer to make sure. It's most likely a bad fan switch. Good luck.

If the previous suggestions don't help, you might want to check your coolant for bubbles; you could have a blown headgasket between the engine's water jacket and a cylinder. If the gasket fails this way, it will force hot gases into the coolant path that will cause this rapid and intense heating. The gasket does not have to be failed much to cause this and the early stages won't cause a cylinder to misfire but on cooling, the coolant can enter the cylinder and produce misfires for a few seconds when first started and this can show up as a fouling of one plug which can even show signs of rust if examined.
Also, check your oil dipstick for the color of your oil; it shouldn't look like Jergens lotion. At the same time, look into the coolant bottle to see what it looks like since a failed gasket can also cause oil to leak into the coolant.

I would check the thermostat and make sure your fluids are up in the well see if the fan runs when it's hot. If the fan runs then it's doing it's job. Is the rad clean or plugged as that will make it over heat as well.

Could be a blend door problem. You would need fresh air from the outside to keep the windows from fogging up. If the blend door that controls outside air gets stuck or fails to open, you may not get fresh air. The ac compressor would also need to run every few minutes to dry the air hitting the windshield.

Have you changed your fuel filter? mine did the same thing and after filter change it was ok.the filter is on the drivers side inside the rear wheel well,atleast it is a good start if it has'nt been done.

1994 oldsmobile cutlass supreme is overheating. Fan not turning when car running. Water levels fine. Fan free spins when car not running.

is it an electric fan or belt drive?for an electric fan check the fuses also check the relay.if belt driven check the belt.hope this helps you

Window fogs up when heat is on

Not sure if this is the problem, but the symptom that you describe is consistant with what happens when you get a heater core leak. When the system gets pressureized, you likely have a mist a vapor in your heater box. The fan then carries the mist to the cabin and moisture forms inside the car. Usually when this happens, it will be accompanied by an odor of coolant. Also over time, your coolant levels will drop. As the condition worsens, your passenger side floorboard could start getting wet. Good Luck! I hope you find this very helpful!

age does not matter, if ride is bumpy and things are making noise, get it checked out at shop. if you are happy with the comfort of the ride, all is good.
